Haywood and I ran up to Dillon Precision in Scottsdale this weekend on a search for some miscellaneous supplies.  The request for .308 147 gr FMJBT went unfulfilled as they were currently out.

When I asked about the status, the sales guy mentioned that they were backordered about 152.  Since I had asked for 1000 for myself, I said "152 thousand?".  Confirmed.  152,000 back ordered.

Anyone else finding components not just expensive, but not available at any price?

Gotta Termark show in PHX coming up next weekend and then the big Crossroads show Dec 1-2.  Hopefully it will be better there.

Too bad most foreigh brass is berdan primed, and thus effectively non-reloadable.

I cringe a bit when I think of all that foreigh brass being tossed/recycled after onlyone use.

FWIW, and at the risk of giving out ideas, I suspect that the use of berdan primers by gov'ts unfriendly to private firearms ownership is not an accident.

It really is a coincidence, since it started when the governments were fairly gun friendly.

Now, here's the real gotcha. Boxer was an Englishman, but Americans are the primary users of Boxer primers. Berdan was an American, and the Europeans primarily use Berdan primers. Go figure.

Lithuania, India and others use Boxer, though Indian can be hit or miss, depends on the year.
They have men amongst them who know very well what they are about, having been employed as Rangers against the Indians and Canadians and this country being much covered with wood, and hilly, is very advantageous for their method of fighting. . . . ".  Lord Percy

Sounds like New Englanders to me.

Midway shows most brands as out of stock, but due in within a week or two.

I'd wager there was a big run on them, because of unbased hysteria and paranoia. That's happened before, and not just for reloading components.

Some folks just NEED to lose the tin-foil hats.

I bought 1000 147gr M80 brand new manufacture for 90 bucks today at hi-tech.  They also have 62 gr pulled .223 for 55/1000.  They are good to deal with and I have bought a fair amount of components from them in the past.

Both .223 and 308 bulk bullets at a reasonable price seems to be in short supply.

I just bought a bulk box of two thousand .308 / 150 gr Hornady FMJ from MidwayUSA.com.  That was all they had.

Most of the kind of stuff I usually order are shown "Out of Stock, No Backorder"
