This was another great Appleseed. It was a cold weekend, overcast on Saturday with rain on Sunday. We had 9 shooters on Sat. and 6 on Sun. Of the 9 shooters 5 were active military.

Saturday started with the safety briefing then the Red Coat targets. Only 3 shooters made the 200 yard target, 2 made the 100 yard target and 1 shooter got the head shot. By the end of the day we had 3 at the 400 yard, 2 at the 300 yard, 2 at the 200 yard and 4 head shots.

Next came the 4 MOA squares: Sling and prone position, 6 steps to firing the shot, Natural Point of Aim, Inches/Minutes/Clicks, and Riflemans Cadence. We took a break for lunch and told the 4/19/75 story. Next was the Ball and Dummy drill. We followed up with the sitting and standing positions and then on to the AQT.

We had 2 Rifleman patches awarded on Saturday. The 1st one of the day went to a citizen soldier in the 82nd Airborne from Ft. Bragg. This young man was shooting a box stock Ruger 10/22(with the factory sights), with a GI web sling. He made Rifleman after the 1st AQT. I offered to loan him my LTR 10/22(with Tech-Sights) but he declined(he shot it for a bit on Sunday  O0).

Sunday started with a little more history, dangerous old men, a review of the handouts, the 7th step, etc. We  had a few shooters go up to the KD range with the rest wanting to get their Rifleman's patch down on the 25 yard range. We hit the AQT grind and got 2 more Rifleman scores and then everyone went up to the KD range to engage pop-ups and confirm their 200 or 300 yard BSZ.

It was a cold and wet weekend but I know everyone had a good time. I'd like to thank all of the Instructors: Hawkeye, Stimey, len1459, Law Man, and The Kid. It was a pleasure Instructing with all of the Red Hats this year, hope to see everyone on the trail real soon.

That settles it!  It is possible to score expert with factory ruger sights...
Now my Appleseeders shall have no excuses! ~~:)
44% Riflemen!  You all did good!

5 active military; awesome!

I can't remember his score but it was a good solid one. He started with loose groups but tightened up, I keep offering my 10/22 also. The cold and wet was not noticed until we were finished, but it was one of the better Appleseeds.

I was signed up to come down for my birthday shoot, but some last minute family issues canceled those plans. I'm unsure what cold and wet means, coming from where I am at.  ;D
I was so looking forward to the KD range and thought about it all weekend. Maybe next year.
Great results though. Shows good military discipline. Congrats to all that made rifleman.
