Is there any way to do this? My M1 has fixed sling mounts. Were I to use this at an Appleseed, I'd have to take my sling off between each phase or stage. I found the detachable swivels to be very helpful on my 10/22. Has anyone mounted something similar on their M1? How so? Thanks.

Rear spring clip on the M1 sling.
Move it to the front sling loop.
Hook it on your fixed swivel (which is somehow an oxymoron)

Alternatively buy a spring clip from a surplus vendor online.

Actually, I'd reccomend you put your sling on and off each time - it's the only way you'll learn how to do it swiftly and confidently. And correctly.

And when you do it enough, you'll find it's no effort at all to do it. You may decide you don't even need to do the "detachable sling" bit... (Personally, I don't, FWIW.)

I swear I tried to use the search engine before I asked.
I'm taking Fred's advise. Thanks Fred.  O0

Hello Group; For what its worth, the M14/M1A forearm swivels installed on the Ruger LTR`s make a great utility modification that are idiot proof that will still be on the rifle after the event is over. Strong and Cheap 3.00 ea. look like reparked, installed with heavy sheet metal screws to stay put. The rear one may need a bit of forming with a ball peen to round it a bit before installing on stock I think they look good and they work great... Pappy
Which has greater value?...... Ammo will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no ammo..

I like my M14 front sling swivel on the 10/22.  The only way it'll ever come loose is if the stock splits in two.

I have a quick detachable sling swivel on the front of one of my M1A GI synthetic stocks.  I don't have a picture of it though.  I removed the GI sling swivel (that's the one on my 10/22 stock) and installed one of the AR 15 bipod mounts through the fore end of the stock where the original sling swivel was.  It takes some drilling, grinding and epoxying followed by more grinding to insure its sturdy and has clearance for the gas cylinder.

Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."
