We had 22 young Patriots show up for a weekend of history and marksmanship.  They ranged in age from 12 to 19. This was a private event for the Pensacola Civil Air Patrol.  We have been holding an event annually for the past several years.  We really enjoy working with88888 this group!

Number one - A huge thank you to the range.  This range is on private property.  The owners are a lovely couple who have graciously opened their home to us.  We greatly appreciate them allowing us to do what we need to do to make the range fit our needs!!  Who does that??  Also, a special thanks to gunjunkie and Waky for spending days at the range making those changes.

This event was a lot of fun.  The forecast was for rain both days.  Saturday, the weather held out perfectly for our event.  Sunday, however, was a different story.  It started raining about an hour in and never stopped, until of course about the time everyone was leaving.  I'm not sure about most, but I think shooting in the rain is a blast!  I tried my best and think I convinced the shooters of the same.  I think they enjoyed the added challenge of shooting in the rain.  It was a bit of a struggle to convince them to leave their eye protection on, but we did succeed.

They listened intently to the history and asked appropriate questions.  They also listened and applied the points of instruction given and most were very open to suggestions made by the instructors as shown by the improved scores on the AQTs.

After all was said and done, we had three new Rifleman scores.  Congratulations to Joseph L for a Rifleman score of 210, Porter with a score of 213 and Nathan with a score of 218.  We also had others knocking on the door: Eli with a 203 and Ellie with a 206 - CONGRATS to ALL!!!

At the end of the day, we were all soaking wet, but smiling because of the very successful event.

Unfortunately, we did have several who had to be assisted out of the range, but that only added to the excitement of the weekend!

It's not about perfection -- it's about progress!!

I LOVE this stuff!

"Perhaps you and I have lived with this miracle too long to be properly appreciative. Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again" Ronald Reagan
