The generosity of the Griffin Gun Club once again allowed us use of one of their bays for our Independence Celebration/Rifle Clinic - what better way to celebrate our country's 250th (observed) birthday than shoot and talk history?  Even though it was 110+° with the heat index, we had 3 new shooters show up to celebrate with us!

On the first day, we covered all fundamentals and 3 Strikes.  The shooters, particularly the one not shown, had lots of great questions all weekend that made all of us think.  We finished the day sweaty, tired and with respectable AQTs and the Hits Count target.

Overnight did not cool things off at all, but just about everyone showed up.  A huge thanks to club members Rachel and especially Jim for getting the range opened up for us Sunday morning.  The only one who couldn't make it was Mechanic, who usually handles that for us.  He was missed, although we had a pretty good 1:1 ratio, so we made do, lol.  The shooters lead the morning review and requested more practice in the morning, so that's just what we did.  It sure worked.  The first AQT of the day produced our first Rifleman!  Congratulations, Mike!  Andrew wasn't far behind.  After lunch both Andrew and Mike shot rifleman scores!  The third shooter was only a few shots away, with a high of 192 and will be sure to get it next time. Of course we shared history to break up the heat during the day, we had to include some about our 250th birthday!

We all seemed to have a great time - the shooters were already lining up their next shoot.  We hope to see you all soon!  Keep up the perfect practice.

Tennessee Beast earns his Georgia Patch.  This certainly isn't his first time here - thanks for all the support!

Zinthous gets the weekend started

The group photo before the heat turned us into puddles.

Zinthous line bossing

No, he's not expecting.  He's got a beautiful fan hidden under his shirt.  Aaaahhhhh - heaven

Andrew cleared his Hits Count Target

Zinthous rewards Andrew with our high tech trigger training device for clearing his Hits Count Target Saturday afternoon

The shooters took turns leading the review Sunday morning.  You'd never know this was all their first Appleseeds.  They have great memories.

Some of the history we shared about the significance of the 4th of July.

We EARNED these Caliente patches!  Wow - both days were over 110° with the heat index.  It was a group effort to keep us all hydrated, shaded, and cooled down as much as possible.

Tennessee Beast is my hero!!!  He brought this misting fan, another fan, clothes to dip in water or a cooling solution

Mike earns his first of 2 Rifleman scores!  Awesome!

Andrew earned his Rifleman patch - Congratulations!

2 men who know very well what they are about.

Special thanks to Zinthous for the help putting this weekend together and his contribution to the AAR.

Wow! Sounds like an awesome event! With a heat index like that though I'm not sorry I missed this one though. Ha! Y'all are troopers for sure! Well done everybody!  O0

I can confirm that this event was a great time despite the oppressive heat! The instructors were all great, provided quality instruction, and did a great job moving us to the shade for when it became obvious that we were melting. This was our first Appleseed, and my gut tells me that it won't be our last!
