Talkeetna, Alaska AAR - May 30-31, 2026

[Agent Orange]

We had 13 students sign up for this event, and most of them had never been to an Appleseed before. (Love getting a bunch of new students!) The weather was nice, a little chilly in the morning, but warmed up with a slight breeze to keep the bugs away later in the day. With a large number of students so new to rifle shooting, we did need to spend a lot of extra time with them familiarizing them with their rifles and getting them into s proper position. (And there is nothing wrong with that!) We started the day with 7/13 bayonets (Ouch!) but by the end of Saturday, we only had 1! (That's real progress!)

Overall this was a fantastic shoot, and the students were very engaged, and willing to learn. Everyone (Instructors included) had a GREAT time! On Sunday we had 3 new Rifleman! Lots of students openly discussed coming to more shoots, getting their friends and family to come, and even had 2 students say they were going to register for the Known Distance!

I always enjoy Appleseed weekends, and am looking forward to the next one I am able to work
