We had a great event in Dubuque celebrating Patriots Day, learning about our heritage, remembering those who fell on the 19th of April 251 years ago, and learning marksmanship skills.

The weather was downright miserable on Saturday. The temperature started out below freezing and never reached 40 degrees. Adding insult to injury, we had 20 mph crosswinds almost all day long. There was ice on a tub I left out the night before and we even saw a few snow flakes in the morning. But that didn't discourage our three shooters who persisted all day long without a single complaint.

Sunday was slightly warmer with a little less wind. Greg cleared the Hits Count target both times and re-qualified as a rifleman with scores of 217 shooting his AR, and 220 shooting his 10/22 with iron sights. Brooks and Walter shot very good as well, almost clearing the Hits Count target several times.

Many thanks to Cort, Mark, and Paul for making the long trek to Dubuque. They are excellent instructors, and it was a joy to have them helping out.

I also need to thank the Dubuque Chapter of the Izaak Walton League for sharing their wonderful range with us.

Here are some pictures of our event. If you click on them they should enlarge. Click on them again and they will shrink back down.

Here is our group (minus the shoot boss who took the picture).

Well done Dubuque!  And well done Rex, delivering another excellent 25m event.  I had a great time helping out and even got a little camping in for free.  Rex took great pictures to share, but none included himself.  I managed to get one of him.

Rex!

Happy Camping
