What a great weekend.  We had 6 shooters come out for a weekend filled with Liberty, Marksmanship, and American Heritage.  Briggs Core Dynamics is a great partner and awesome range.  I want to thank them for their continued support of our program.

We started Saturday with our First Strike of the match, presented by JHB.  After our safety brief, pistols came to the line. Our first Hits Count target told us we had room to improve.  We slowly built up the skills needed by a Pistoleer™.  Dry practicing Grip, Sights, and Trigger helped reinforce those skills.  Our shooters all did a great job and showed improvement on the first round of live fire after learning these skills.  We sprinkled in the Second and Third Strikes of the match throughout the rest of the day.  They were presented by Geek, and Captain America.  By the end of our first day, 2 new Pistoleer™s revealed themselves.  Congrats to Josh, 228, and Greg with a pair of 218s.

Everyone returned on Sunday for another day of great weather, Pistoleer™ skills, American heritage, and Liberty.  Our first story of the day was about Grace and Rachel Martin, 2 American Women, who used pistols to relieve British messengers of their orders.  After our safety brief and Hits Count target, we conducted a review of the prior day's instruction with Total Participant Involvement.  Throughout the day, we shared more stories of individuals who made a difference in our nation's early days.  Those stories included one about Sam and Sam.  We ran the Whitlock Drill, and it was a huge hit.  Our final Hits Count Target proved that this course of instruction works.

This event was special as the women outnumbered the men.  Thank you, Laura, Thaimi, Brooke, and Bonnie, for being a part of this event during Women's History Month.  Brooke and Thaimi were first-time participants.  All of them improved over the weekend.  I look forward to seeing each of you at future events.  Congratulations still go to Greg and Josh for consistently turning in strong scores on the PQTs.

I want to thank my instructor cadre, consisting of JHB, Captain America, and Kanoa, for helping this weekend.  It is always a fun weekend when we get together for the cause of Liberty and Marksmanship.

"This country has been made by the Timothy Murphys, the men in the ranks. Conditions here called for qualities of heart and hand that Tim Murphy had in abundance. Our histories should tell us more about the men in the ranks, for it was to them, more than to the generals that we were indebted for our military victories." -  Franklin Delano Roosevelt, as New York Governor, 1929, at the dedication of the memorial to Murphy

From the pictures it looks sunny but cold. JHB definitely has rhythm.

I was a great weekend and I was pleased to earn my patch.  I just wish I would have kept up my scores when I switched to centerfire.

The Smorgasbord (Whitlock Drill) was a fun addition.  Maybe I'll pick out something vintage to share at future events.
