We had a fun event with challenging weather held in Laramie, Wyoming on February 21-22 2026 at the Laramie Rifle Range.
Five students and eight instructors came out for instruction.
We had two Applecore helping with registration.
Snow blew in overnight to set a good Winterseed tone.
We set up the range and did safety and other topics, and did the first strike.
Shooters shot their red coats, received more instructions and drills before we broke to the clubhouse for a warm lunch. After lunch, we covered Strike Two, more instruction and then set up for more drills and then Strike Three.
We shot the standard course of fire, which had the AQT broken up over the afternoon with instruction. We had two volunteers and two students requalify under freezing temperatures (30.7 deg F, and real feel of 22.1 deg F).
We retired for the day after shooting a much-improved Red-Coat.

Day two started windy, but had more sun.
After the Safety brief, instruction refreshers, we made the line hot for hits count targets and more instruction.
We shot a few more AQTs, and then broke for lunch where KD skills were taught along with a few DOM/DOW stories. We had a new rifleman at his first event. We had six volunteers requal, a few earning their first under Winterseed conditions (Sunday had higher temp, but windchill brought it to 30.7 degrees F during the AQT).
After lunch a few more AQT's then the red coat, and lastly students were able to shoot a variety of steel targets at 100 yards using a rimfire rifle. There were a majority of hits versus misses by all students using the brief KD skills they had been introduced to (on 4 – 16 MOA sized targets).
Several students and instructors shot above 210 several times over the weekend, and the two new shooters (both youth) ended up in the 190-205 range! In all we had nine different shooters score at or above Rifleman for the event, despite the conditions.
