How do you personally wear/use your patches?

I've earned my Rifleman patch and also received the RWVA oval patch and Rifleman rocker. And I have a Patriots Day 2025 patch.

How do you personally like to use your patches? Do you have a shooting jacket, regular jacket, vest, or shirt you put yours on? If it's a garment, what do you like for placement? I was thinking about a shirt to wear to Appleseed events with the rifleman flag patch on the right shoulder and oval/rocker on the left, but that placement might interfere with the loop sling on the left bicep.

Do you have a piece of gear you add them to? Like a range bag, case, or mat?

Do you keep it simple with just those few Appleseed patches, or do you like to use lots of patches? Do you mix them in with other non-Appleseed patches or "pieces of flair"? (And if so, is fifteen still the minimum? Now, you know it's up to you whether or not you want to just do the bare minimum. Or... well, like Brian, for example, has thirty seven pieces of flair, okay. And a terrific smile.)😀

Do you sew them permanently to whatever you are putting them on, or do you add a hook and loop fastener so you can remove them?

Or do you just not really use them at all?

I haven't had patches to display since my Boy Scout days, so I'm looking for ideas. If you have pictures, please share! Thanks!

There's a lady on facebook, Mary, who I believe works under the name Nonstandard Issue who will make the WWII Marine Corps style shooting jacket which is the most common thing used. Other people like photographers vests.

The thread Mrs. Smith references is a good one and it will help you when you sign on. To summarize for now:

-The Rifleman patch goes on your support side chest, shooting jackets have a pocket, so, above that. Leave room for embellishments like distinguished, perhaps Morgan's Shingle as well.

-The RWVA oval goes on your shooting arm. Fred says you only want to put that thing on there once, so leave room up and down for rockers and tabs.

-Other patches go wherever you want. The Pistoleer™ badge and its embellishments can go on your shooting jacket, or on a separate garment. I am considering the left sleeve on mine for those. Morale patches and celebration patches can go wherever, I am using the back on mine. Mine are sewn on, I even destitched the velcro off the Caliente Seed to sew it on, but velcro is fine if you like it.

I've got some errors on mine, the blue April 19 tab is in the wrong spot, but this is how they stack. I am not sure there's a Morgan's shingle guideline, so I put mine where you see it.

Thank you very much! This is exactly what I was looking for. I think my local surplus shop might have BDU type shirts or jackets in solid colors, and I might do something like this.

Im not a shooting jacket type, i ended up sewing some of my patches on my "Admin" Bag for events. At some point the morale patches will get added to one of the fold out portions, but i want to keep the exterior clean.

I'm not a jacket type person either.  I had mine arranged in a picture frame with a KD target as a background.  The target was shot up in a memorial volley one year and signed by everyone at the shoot.  It was used at a couple of libertyseeds. I've since pilfered the targets for a different display that I don't have anymore, which is why I can't show a better picture of it.  It hung in my basement.

I ordered one of these BDU shirts in black from Propper. https://www.propper.com/military-uniforms/bdu/bdu-shirts/propper-bdu-long-sleeve-shirt.html

It's nice and roomy in the shoulders and back, so I think it will be practical for shooting. And I think the solid black color will be a good background for patches. When I get them sewn on, I'll post a picture.

Yes. 5.11 Style 71339. It's older so not sure if still available. I like the cover shirts that are vented in the back - "jungle shirts" - but that style wouldn't work to sew the back patches on.

The first one I sewed directly onto the jacket i was wearing when i achieved it. There after, I sewed them to velcro so that i can move them from garment to garment. Since you cant buy extras of the KD and Morgans shingle patches, I wanted to be able to move them from one jacket to another if I wanted to wear something different.

Well I learned something new in this thread. I never knew there was a protocol for where to put patches. I just kinda did what I thought looked good. LOL

I have an upland shooting "jacket". It's more of a shirt. I'm in the process of making a new one though. I want one that is only Appleseed and doesn't have the NRA patches. I'll follow "protocol" for the new one.

Now that I'm a shoot boss, I usually staple them to the foreheads of the orange and red hats. 
If that is an option you are interested in pursuing, I recommend the 5/8" staples to the 3/8" ones; they hold better and the recipients don't really squeal all that much more.

For the most part, all I have that are shooting related are Appleseed patches. But I do have some fun patches that are liberty themed, or Star Wars Rebel Alliance, or other silly things that kind of fit the themes of the American Revolution. I think I'll sew the main Appleseed patches onto the shirt using the patch protocol, and sew on some name tape, and then I'll add some "loop fields" for hook and loop patches that can be added and removed, and maybe when I'm in the mood I'll temporarily stick some fun stuff go on those.

Wearing my shotgun vest is great ... to remind participants of my forum name and first name as well. I also have seen the annual circular patches on the back as well. Front pockets are usually filled with monofilament, pens, sharpie markers, small rulers, program line boss laminated commands, safe rifle, safety rules, notepads, and an allen wrench tool (usually).

We are all blessed with the chance to serve this vital program and awaken the oftentimes dormant pride in what our nation's citizens did to secure our freedoms. Enjoy being just one example of what my journey has been and what theirs may be as well.
