Question about 5 year membership

Hi, a few years ago I attended an Appleseed event that I enjoyed a lot. I wanted to support the organization and get a 5-year membership. Once I registered and paid for it, I got a somewhat confusing email saying:

You have successfully reserved 1 space/spaces for RWVA/Project Appleseed Memberships.
When : 01/17/2018 - 12/31/2028 @ 12:00 am

Why do the dates start from 2018? Also, 5 years from now is 2030, not 2028. Why 12 am?

Also, it says:
This is your ticket. Please print it out and bring it with you to the event.

Is the 5-year membership also a ticket to an event?

If you know what it all means, please explain it to me.

I believe this is a side-effect of how we sell memberships alongside event tickets, and can all be safely ignored.

Was your 5 year RWVA membership purchase just recently?

You should (will) receive a package in the mail that has your membership number (discount code) *and a white hat.
They are regularly batch shipped near the beginning and middle of the month that you 'enlisted', so keep an eye out for an 8x8 box, USPS delivered.
