Project Appleseed would like to again thank the Walker County Sheriff's Department for the use of their beautiful range facility!  This was our second event of the year there and we have another scheduled in November.

Mother Nature had been nice to us earlier in August with lower than normal temperatures, but that ended for this event.  Five hardy Patriots, two of them new to Appleseed, braved the weather and arrived at the range early, allowing us to begin instruction very quickly.  After the welcome and a rousing First Strike by AH1Tom we began instruction and the Hits Count Target revealed we had some shooters among us!  Three shooters hit the med target, one the large, and one shooter hit MAJ Pitcairn's button!  Guys, I failed to record the name of the button shooter, so please identify yourself in a reply.

Instruction went very quickly with shooters asking excellent questions and absorbing a great deal of information quickly.

We continued instruction and drills until breaking for lunch and Hardholder's Second Strike, then came back to the line for target transition practice and one-handed shooting.  Several shooters were surprised to see they shot better with their non-dominant hand!

We took a break for AH1Tom's Third Strike of the Match and then came back for Pistol Qualification Targets as the heat continued to increase.  We had several shooters flirting with qualification on the first PQT, but scores began to decline as the day continued.  We took a break for the onion of Self-Defense and then came back for more PQTs, but by that time the shooters all agreed they were done for the day.  The shooters all understand that a Pistoleerâ„¢ persists and were already talking about attending more events!

Mixed Metaphor took advantage of the opportunity to re-qualify.  Congratulation, MM!

The final hits-count target showed the effects of the heat, with two shooters hitting the medium target, one the large, and again one hitting MAJ Pitcairn's button.  I once again failed to note who hit the button; please take credit in replies.

Thank you, Shooters, for joining us to learn more about American history and heritage.  I hope to see you all on the line again soon!

What an awesome group! We thoroughly enjoyed meeting the Shooters. It was a tad warm. I look forward to see you all again.

I had a great time Saturday. It had been a while since I my pistol. I could listen to the 3 strikes every week. I did manage to nick the button on the first Redcoat. I look forward to the next pistol day.

Dirk:
Thanks for letting me know!  Now we need the other button shooter to chime in....
How soon would you be interested in another pistol event?  Get a few of your friends to commit and I'll put one on the schedule before the end of the year.
May liberty increase,
Tony
