It was a great weekend to be an American! 11 shooters showed up at the Battle Creek Sportsmans Club for the September 13th thru 14th Project Appleseed 25m rifle clinic and 7 of them were first time attendees. Maximum Ordinate traveled up from Alabama to Shoot Boss this event and it was greatly appreciated.
After welcome and announcements MO got us rolling with First Strike and then the attendees shot their first hits count target. Then the instructor team of Wingwrench, NoLambo, and Molarman got to work with the assistance of Bill Winkle, Rascal21, MO and myself in helping the shooters build their foundational skills for marksmanship.
At lunch Wingwrench gave us his take on Second Strike after which a sighter square was shot and MO presented IMC.
More drills were run after lunch, being broken up by my presentation of Third Strike
The time monkey started to close in but we were able to just out run him, completing an AQT before it was time to call it a day.
The shooters were sent home with instructions to get a good night's rest as Sunday promised to be warmer and busier.
Sunday arrived and we had lost 3 shooters due to unforseen circumstances.
The eight who returned were treated to a quick review of the previous day's PoIs. A Red Coat was shot revealing that Saturday's lessons were taking hold and after a sighter square, the first AQT for Sunday was completed showing good improvement over Saturday. We ran Ball & Dummy before a second AQT and then lunch, where I presented the KD lesson.
After lunch Maximum Ordinate had to be on his way home, and we bid him safe travels. We completed the day with 4 more AQTs broken up with a squares of death drill, DOM history and a Parker's Revenge fun shoot with Team Whitmore taking the honors, and some Appleseed swag, over Team Parker.
While we did not mint any new riflemen, Anna came very close with a 201 that possibly could have been a 211 if she hadn't received a couple of hits from someone else that potentially robbed her of 10 points. Anna took it in stride and showed that she has the persistence it takes to be a future riflewoman.
Our only Rifleman score of the day was posted by Jeremiah & Joseph's dad, Clinton, who Bill offered the use of his 22lr to shoot the afternoon AQTs, resulting in a 216 requalifing score.
Congratulations Clinton!
All too soon it was 4:45 and we wrapped up with the final Red Coat. While no one cleaned it Anna got 3 solid hits on the 400 silhouette and a well placed hit on Morgan's Shingle(atta girl!) and Jeremiah and Joseph got hits on Morgan's Shingle. After the closing benediction, rifles were removed from the line and the range was torn down and packed up. Thank you to all who attended this event and I hope to see you all back here or at another event next year. Everyone showed improvement and if you keep working on the fundamentals and dry fire  I have little doubt that the Rifleman patch will be yours.
A big thank you to the Battle Creek Sportsmans Club for giving us a great range to host these events.
Bill, Rascal 21, MO, Wingwrench, NoLambo  & Molarman, you all were an outstanding crew and it took everyone of you to make it a success

An excellent Saturday with great people. It was a pleasure to spend the day with everyone there.

I am glad I had sense enough to go home at the end of Saturday. I lacked the endurance for Sunday, and would have been a sea anchor for everybody.

An enjoyable day with good people!!  Thank you to all those in attendance.
