I am so thankful for the 10 patriots that signed up as students for the August 25M rifle clinic at the Military and Police Bay at Arnold Air Force Base.  It was really great to have so many families there...one of which traveled from Memphis.

Saturday started off with history and safety, then on to the first "Hits Count" target...which 1 person cleared (Darryl E.) and 2 hit the shingle.  The rest of the day was filled with instruction, drills, and amazing history.  By the end of the day, we had minted a new Rifleman*- Becki A. with a 221 (*first "official" event) and had a requalification (Alyssa A.-217). We also had several folks "knocking on the door".  The day ended with 1 person clearing the "Hits Count" target and 3 hitting the shingle.  EVERYONE improved their marksmanship.  Huzzah!

Sunday started out well.  It seemed as if the instruction the day before had sunk in overnight and had 3 folks clear the Hits Count target (Jon L., Becki A., Darryl E.) and 6 hit the shingle. The students had great targets all day.  Additionally, the students heard some history they don't normally hear. Also, we incorporated the new target, Parker's Revenge...which was a hit.  Before the day ended, we had minted 2 new Riflemen (Darry E. with a 216 and Ben B. with a 213...a first time Appleseeder). We also had 3 Requalifications (Becki A.-228, 224, 222, Alyssa A.-214, 231, Rick M.-213).  The afternoon "Hits Count" target scores were very similar to the morning's (2 cleared it and 4 hit the shingle). I do want to give a shout out to our designated marksman, Adaline T.-Age 10, whose high score was a 187 and had a maximum effective range of 400 yards.  Huzzah!

I want to thank each one of you for your perseverance and for bringing a "teachable attitude". I saw A LOT of improvement over the weekend.  Please continue to practice the skills we taught you and I hope to see you at another event soon! I also want to thank the great volunteers that I got the pleasure of working with for the weekend.  Your sacrifices are noted. I couldn't have done it without you!

Post pictures if you have them!

Purple Patch comes with a story!!!!
In giving us dominion over the animal kingdom, God has signified His will that we subdue the beast within ourselves.
John Lancaster Spalding

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
Benjamin Franklin, 1775

"A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent of others for essential, particularly military, supplies."  George Washington 1790

"[T]o preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them…"
- Richard Henry Lee, Declaration Signer
