Orlando, FL RKD Dec 14-15, 2024 AAR

Six  students came out to improve their marksmanship and learn the skills of Known Distance Shooting. This was the first 200yd Rimfire Known Distance (RKD) event held at the Central Florida Rifle & Pistol Club (CFRPC) in Orlando. Matter of fact, it's a first for the Central Florida area.

We must give a big THANK YOU to the Central Florida Rifle & Pistol Club for allowing us to use their fine facilities for the weekend. They are always great hosts. The 300M range is in high demand. Allowing us to occupy it for the entire weekend was a big deal.

The students were a pleasure to instruct. It's always fun to work with students that know what they are about and prove it.

Sunday morning everyone was challenged to make their mark with a cold bore shot on Morgan's shingle at 125 yards. Cody, Morgan, Nick, and Yaman proved they were up to the task and were awarded the Morgan Riflemen patch.

Five Riflemen scored 40 or better on the AQT to qualify for the Rimfire KD tab at 200 yards: Ahmet(43), Cody (44), David (44), Kevin (44), Ryan (42).

Davidjr, KOF, and MAJmorgan rounded out the instructor staff. Thanks guys for all your hard work.

The weather was almost perfect other than a bit of light rain Saturday, but that didn't stop the shooting.

Dennis, this was my second Appleseed event, and I can't wait for the next one! Great stories, instructors, and attendees.

I underestimated the 200-yard distance, brought a 1x power prism sight, and struggled with high 30s on day one. A 4x scope solved the problem! I'm really impressed that some people not only clear this with iron sights but even score high enough to become Distinguished Riflemen.

Looking forward to seeing you all in a few months!

Glad you hung in there Ahmet. You had decent groups and scores once you got a "scope" on your rifle. Give irons a try at 25M then work on KD. It's not as hard as you think.

It was great to see so many familiar faces! This was a great weekend, and a fantastic event. The 200yd RFKD was a fun format and I had a great time getting to stretch my rifle's legs. I'll continue working towards qualifying with the bolt action too. Perhaps a 25m event is in order soon.

The weekend went really well despite the on and off rain!  It was great seeing the progress of the shooters and I was glad to see the enthusiasm!  I look forward to seeing everyone at the next shoot!

Sounds like a great weekend, congratulations to all who qualified. I love the 200 yard Rim fire KD, probably the most challenging course of fire in Appleseed.
