Special thanks to the Southern Lancaster County Farmers Sportsmen's Assn for hosting us for the umpteenth time.  They again donated their entire 100 yard rifle range to us for the weekend, and were very helpful in all aspects of getting ready for the weekend at an Appleseed Rifle Clinic.  And we are headed back there several more times this year alone!

The weather was great both days – sunny and a bit hot, but we couldn't have asked for a better weekend of marksmanship and heritage!  The shooters were all experienced, which was obvious as we covered the points of instruction.  Dry fire practice confirmed their skill, as did the first Redcoat – all scored at 300 or 400 yards, with 9 out of 12 hitting the shingle and 5 clearing the target!

Several marksmanship improvement drills were used, including the NPOA drills with your eyes closed, and the results were eye-opening (pun intended).  Scopes were tested for level, cant and the reticle lines being plumb, and several adjustments had to be made. Improvement was noticeable.  Everyone was very receptive to the course of instruction.    We also tried the 50 yard AQT followed by a 25 yard version.  All but two showed great improvement as a result, with several personal bests.  And Bruce qualified as a Rifleman at 50 yards with a 227!

Two folks were impacted by the heat and did not return on Sunday, as we worked through more drills in the morning (as we can't shoot until noon). We were able to go to the 100 yard range and reviewed not only the ballistics of standard rimfire rounds, but hypervelocity and super suppressed rounds as well.  Correcting for the various muzzle velocity differences reaffirmed the IMC lessons. Throughout the weekend the shooters showed those pesky Redcoats the strength of our cause on both the AQT and Hits Count Targets, and all shooters requalified as Rifleman.  We also have two new Orange Hats to add to our cadre – Goops50 and Bjorn.   Huzza!

Thanks to all the shooters and SLCFSA for a great weekend.
