I wanted to leave a short review on a rifle I haven't seen mentioned on here. I bought an HK416D from a friend for an absolute steal, and tried it out at a 25m shoot this weekend. It's an AR platform 22lr made by Umarex and branded by HK as a copy of their 416 centerfire rifle. All metal construction on the receivers, which was very nice. Free floated barrel with M-lok handguards, so I had to get an insert for a sling swivel from Academy. The trigger (like on every HK I've shot) was mushy and kinda crappy, but I ordered the "match trigger spring kit" that's available for it, and it made it much more tolerable. Still about 4.5lbs if I remember right, but much crisper. Strangely, there's no detectable reset. My friend got rid of it because he couldn't get it to cycle with the spring kit in, but I had no problems running Norma TAC-22 ammo. I did have some misfires on S&B Club ammo, but the primer strikes looked good so I'll fault the ammo, not the rifle. The magazines come in 10, 20, and 30 round varieties and are made by Walther/Umarex. They are very easy to load with little grippy buttons on the side that you can push the follower down with. The controls are identical to a normal AR platform rifle, with the exception of the bolt release being only for looks. The bolt DOES hold open on an empty mag, and will stay locked open when you remove the mag. There is no magazine disconnect, it will fire the chambered round with no magazine inserted. It came with plastic flip-up sights, but I mounted a Bushnell AR-223 scope on a Burris P.E.P.R. mount on the pic rail on top of the receiver instead.

How does it shoot? I shot a personal best of 237, then loaned it to a student who knocked out a 230 to earn his first Rifleman patch. Not bad for a $100 rifle and a $200 scope. :cool2:
