Baker, FL. 1/2 day rifle, Sept 16 2023, AAR

This was a day like no other, with 29 young men 50% of them under the age of 9 and some crazy weather. It was a handful, but fun. We started the day with some historical quotes of our founders with the boys soaking it in. We moved on to explaining the rifle, its parts and how the rifle works. The safety rules, safe rifle and ammo malfunctions were covered as a group and again for each relay. We were limited to only six shooting points so we used relays to ensure all the boys had an opportunity to shoot. The first group on the line were 5 and 6 year old new shooters. They took most of the morning but all performed amazingly well. Mid day the weather went from muggy and very hot to a frog strangler and much cooler but no lightning so we pressed on. At days end, Aiden and Isaiah turned in perfect scores and four others with scores of 40 or higher.

This was the first Trail Life event in our county, and we look forward to many more with this great group of young men.  We are already planning a two-day event in the spring.

I want to commend all the instructors, Waky, Mrs. Waky, Patriot 1775, Kona Boy and Stan the Man, you are truly amazing. I am proud of you and your commitment to Appleseed and these young men.

I will share an e-mail I received from Trail Life Troop FL-0077.
We wanted to thank you and your entire Appleseed team for Saturday's Appleseed shoot. All of the instructors were outstanding and we deeply appreciate all the time,effort and patience taken with each of the boys. The boys really enjoyed it and learned a lot and the parents really appreciate it as well. For many of them this was either their first time shooting or their first formal instruction. I got lots of positive feedback from both the boys and the parents and everyone was very thankful for this event and your instruction. I think it has people motivated to do a more extensive course of instruction next year. It is great to meet and partner with like-minded Patriots and shooters with the same mission in mind for our country. We look forward to working with you all again in the near future. We thank you and your entire team for what y'all are doing and what you did for our troop. God bless you all.
