This was great appleseed despite the persistent drizzle and light rain
7 shooters braved the weather.  4 shooters had preregistered and there were 3 walk-ons.

3 shooters scored rifleman, two of whom were repeats from our appleseed in Newberry in July.  One even went distinguished on Sunday!

we had one 8 year old, Ilana who was brought to our shoot by her father instead of the simultaneous Cowboy Action shoot at the range.  I think we have recruited two new appleseed participants in the future.

As for seventh stepping, we recruited a new orange hat.

Young Ilana showing the adults how to shoot.  This young lady always a laser!

After fighting irons on his 10/22 all day Saturday,  Tom used FighterFixer1's rifle to score 223 and his first Rifleman!  He had taken the course over 10 years ago in Vermont and wore his vintage shirt on Sunday.  HUZZAH!

FighterFixer1 also fought irons on Saturday with an agonizingly close 209.  Sunday he came loaded for bear and well rested and shot 240, then backed it up with a 241 with his awesome 10/22 named Betty (I think) to score Distinguished!  HUZZAH, HUZZAH!!

I struggled with my iron sighted AR all day Saturday and had pathetic and embarrassing scores.  Sunday I came chasing a Distinguished rocker, and was disappointed with a 235, which is still a personal best.  My rifle did provide entertainment by making a "bloop" noise as Todd put it.  So I named the rifle Blooper as a consequence.

I know a guy that asked for an IIT hat.  I don't have a picture of him.

And of course, I didn't rotate the photos.  I apologize.

Some pictures from DEH.  First, a better picture of Tom and his 223 Rifleman score!

A better picture of FighterFixer1 and his 241 Distinguished score!

And me, with a 235 score and an IIT hat.  Thanks to Taz, DEH, Todd, and Jeff for allowing me into the ranks.

Congrats . . . And welcome aboard. I'm certain you'll be an asset to the Cadre.

Thank you.  I've started reading through the material for the IIT program.

I also decided to go out and clean the rifles from this weekend since it was raining and my 10/22 was soggy when I got home.  I'd hosed it down with WD40, and it was still good to go when I took it apart today.  All clean and ready to be abused in my backyard range until the next time.  The AR... it might get some "special attention."  A buddy came by Tuesday and we shot it a few times.  It was so frustrating it had an "unscheduled flight."

Thanks to all the instructors for their help, and to all the friends I've met through Appleseed!

I've attended 4 'seeds now, and my scores have been steadily climbing.  Part of that is the instruction, part of that is practice.  Now that I have a Distinguished rocker, I'm chasing that 250--and if I can fix my standing game, I can do it.

On a side note, since I failed to earn a Rifleman score with iron sights, I went and got my eyes checked.  I went from 20/21 vision to......less.

Your's truly is sportin' trifocals now and I just checked my sight picture with iron sights......Hallelujah!  I can SEE AGAIN!!!!!!

I'll see y'all at the next one!
