Wow! What a great event we had at the Memphis Sport Shooting Assoc. We really appreciate the support they provide to Appleseed. The weather could not have been any better for this event. Our shooters were a mix of first timers and return shooters. Our early morning Redcoat showed promise and we got down to business covering sling use, steady hold factors, and the six steps of firing the shot. Our shooters soaked it all in and we had good groups immediately! We had a very strong Instructor cadre for the event and each shooter was getting a lot of individual instruction. By the end of the first day improvement was obvious. The morning Redcoat showed 6 shooters effective at 100, 5 at 200, 1 at 300, 0 at 400, 3 shingle hits and no one clearing the target. By the afternoon we had 10 effective at 100, 6 at 200, 3 at 300, 1 at 400, 5 shingle hits, and one shooter cleared the target! Sunday we were back at it and by the end of the day we had one Riflewoman. We also had several heartbreaker scores of 205-207 and a lot of high 190s. Everyone was having a good time and vowed to return to get their patch. All the Strikes were particularly good along with the long range presentation. Just a great event with and really good group of shooters. Here are a few pics.

The highlight of the weekend was one of our youth clearing her Saturday afternoon Redcoat. She missed getting her patch by 3-5 points twice over the weekend. Next time will be it for her

WOW!!!  This looks like an amazing event!!  I am impressed with the turn out and the progress made!

HOOZAH!!!
It's not about perfection -- it's about progress!!

I LOVE this stuff!

"Perhaps you and I have lived with this miracle too long to be properly appreciative. Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again" Ronald Reagan

This shoot, the instructors, and shooters were all a lot of fun.  I loved seeing the families together cheering each other on and the repeats from last year. The zombie shoot was new to me.  Although I love zombies, it was great to see the excitement as they all fell or rocketed from the backers.  It was funny that the shooters seemed to think it'd be hard to knock them down when they'd been shooting squares that were smaller all day.  Most hit within the first few shots!  Awesome.

5 family members from the youngest's POV - her mom, 2nd cousin, great aunt, and grandmother - All great shots.  The 2 newest shooters had mad natural ability. Comfort and Axeman are giving great tips as they shoot.

Carol's a repeat from last year.  It was nice to see her again and see the improvement from last year. Nice name too.

Our ace of the day!!! She's raising her hand because she cleared the Red Coat target!  She missed the Rifleman patch by only a few points.  Next time she'll get it for sure.

RustyGun might need a bigger car.  I think he had room the dash still.

Patricia kicks butt and qualified again!!!  She's great to watch and see how to do things right.

She's not the only one I saw taking a break on the mat.  I was just too slow to get the camera out for the others.  They worked their butts off.
