IXOYE

We had another great shoot in Durango, Iowa with seven patriots showing up to learn rifle marksmanship and the history of April 19th, 1775. The weather was absolutely fabulous for the middle of July. Many thanks to Lyle for sharing his beautiful range with our group. And many thanks to Steve for jumping the Wisconsin border to help instruct this event.

We had a mixture of inexperienced and experienced shooters. For two of our shooters it was basically the first time they'd ever shot a rifle. Kudos to Matthew and Mary. You guys showed remarkable improvement throughout the weekend. Congratulations to Kurt for re-qualifying and earning his distinguished patch with a score of 243 and to Andrew for earning his rifleman patch at his first Appleseed event with a score of 225. It is very special when a dad earns his distinguished patch and his son earns his rifleman patch on the same day. Congratulations to Keith for re-qualifying with a score of 221. Final congratulations go out to Mary for clearing her redcoat target on Sunday. That is a remarkable achievement for someone who hadn't shot a rifle before. Kudos to Andy for struggling through all the ups and downs with a broken foot and for adapting to the difficulties of finding ways to support yourself in the different positions. Kudos to Bridget for demonstrating great persistence and improvement as well.

We got a late start on Sunday due to worship services so Keith and the instructor crew hammered out a couple AQT's along with some .308 shooting at 200 yards before the rest of the shooters arrived. I'm happy to report that everyone re-qualified and that the 200 yard targets suffered greatly.

Pictures of our event are posted below. If you click on them they will expand to a larger size. If you click on them again they will shrink back down.
