9 folks joined us on what would turn out to be a beautiful cloudless sunny weekend at the Interlake Sporting Association range in Redmond WA for the 2nd public Project Appleseed Pistol Clinic event.  4 total volunteer instructors also spent the weekend with everyone making sure that each attendee receives plenty of one-on-one instruction and working together like clockwork to keep everything moving safely.

We started the day with our hits count pistol targets and went straight into the various pistol fundamentals such as practicing NPOA, stance, grip, etc.  Drills after drills were shot under the watchful eyes of our volunteer instructors and we were able to squeeze in 2 PQTs before the day ended on Saturday.  All of the instructors learned quite a bit on how to make things work better and more comfortable for Sunday and came back well prepared with pop ups, water, and additional practice and drills on malfunctions, ball & dummy, and as usual a healthy discussion on the history of the pistol in the US.  We went straight into the Sunday PQT grind with about 7 PQTs completed by day's end.  At the end of the weekend, Alex came through with a solid PQT score of 219 and earned himself the first Washington state Pistoleerâ„¢ patch awarded to an attendee that was not already a volunteer instructor.  Huzzah!

I thank each of you for coming out to join us for a great weekend of pistol marksmanship instruction, and I know all of you have learned quite a bit not only about pistol shooting in general, but also about the limitations both personally and equipment.  Just as in rifle, persistence and constant practice will continue to improve your skills, practice with a camera, with a mirror, etc.  Make sure there are no live rounds with you in the room. Practice target transitions, trigger drills, magazine changes, etc.

The absolute best part of the weekend for me personally?  To see each of you make improvements throughout the day.

I hope to see each of you out again at another Appleseed event in the future!  Be our 7th step, help spread the word.  Join us as a volunteer to help teach the same skills you've learned to your fellow citizens.
