The weather at Hollywood Rifle and Pistol Club started "iffy" with strong intentions of lack of cooperation.  However, as the morning progressed you couldn't ask for better weather for our one-day Appleseed event!

The day started with many eager beginners and several first-time shooters, and a VERY long line of shooters with a willingness to learn.  With each module of instruction and later the volleys to confirm that newfound knowledge, the proof was in the pudding, with groups showing the results.

We had several rifleman patches with a 217 for Daniel, a 221 for Bruce, and Megan with a 226 for the high score of the day!  Congratulations!

Many of the shooters overcame challenges and quite a few were just dancing on the edge of getting there as well.  There is no doubt in my mind, had this been a two-day event, there would have been quite a few more rifleman patches earned!

We ended the day Saturday with the solemn Memorial Volley for our fallen Patriot founders.  It included the playing of a recording of Amazing Grace played on bagpipes during the volley. It was an awesome day with new and old friends, lots of laughs, and good fellowship.

My personal thanks to all who helped make this one-day event an overwhelming success.  I couldn't have been more blessed with such a dedicated group of instructors and an amazing grouping of students with such willingness to learn.

Here's a link to some pictures of the highlights of the weekend:  https://tinyurl.com/bdh4jzmw. Please feel free to post more pictures if you have them!!
"Instead of sitting down satisfied with the efforts we have already made, which is the wish of our enemies, the necessity of the times, now more than ever, calls for our utmost circumspection, deliberation, fortitude, and perseverance.."  - Samuel Adams-- HUZZAH!!

This was a great group of people, and I truly enjoyed working with each of you on your Rifleman's journey.

You may have discovered during the event, that you need to make adjustments to your rifle to make it fit you. The web slings can be found at AmmoGarand.com or the Appleseed store. Cheek risers can be found at Brownells, Midway, etc. If you had a loaner, then you really have the best type of shopping! If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the forum, or message us and we'll be glad to help.

If you want to get deeper into our history, "Paul Revere's Ride" and "Washington's Crossing" by David Hackett Fischer are excellent books. I also recommend "The Federalist Papers" by Hamilton, Madison, Jay.

We have another event scheduled at this range on July 30th. Sign up now to save a spot, and bring a friend! I look forward to seeing you again.

Can't say enough about this event and the instructors as well as all the volunteers!

I will most certainly be back again trying to get that distinguished rifleman patch this time!
Who know could possibly have some friends interested and get them hooked as well.

I've already gone ahead on reserved a spot for the KD event in Palm Bay  and I'll be bringing  my 6.5 creedmoor out.

*Kinetic enerygy* your advice is well taken!  I though I could get away with a Magpul sling but, truthfully the gi sling is the simplest and best solution for this type of shooting highly recommended and I've made changes to my cheek riser as well.

This was humbling experience and I recommend this to anyone I talk to who is interested in learning great fundamentals.

Huzzah!  :F

The use of other non-GI slings should be easier now that the concept is clear. The main thing is to let your skeleton and the sling do the hard work of supporting the rifle, while you're relaxed and totally attentive to your sights and trigger control. If you can configure your Magpul sling in such a way to facilitate this, then by all means give it a try. Let us know how it works out.

I feel thankful and honored that I got to help instruct such a great group of fine Americans. A big "Huzzah" to all y'all!
The American Constitution is remarkable for its simplicity; but can only suffice a people habitually correct in their actions, and would be utterly inadequate to the wants of a different nation.  Change the domestic habits of the Americans, their religious devotion, and their high respect for morality, and it will not be necessary to change a single letter in the Constitution in order to vary the whole form of their government. - Francis Grund 1837

There are several more modern slings which support the loop configuration. Magpul makes the RLS, TacticalIntervention has the Quick Cuff Precision, and Wilderness has the Cleckner Cuff Sling. I have the last one, and I'll be testing the other two at some point. Everything has tradeoffs, so feel free to experiment once you have the basics down. We teach with the cotton GI Web sling because it's cheap, easy to adjust, and it works.

Anything that 9mm4545 says should be considered very carefully; he can definitely shoot!  :snipersmi
