It was a beautiful weekend at the Cherokee County Georgia Sheriff's Office in Canton, GA.  Sheriff Reynolds and his team have been long-time supporters of Appleseed and we sure appreciate that.

If you've ever thought about becoming an Appleseed volunteer and wondered if it was something you could do... the answer is yes!  The way to turbocharge your skills as an instructor is to attend an Instructor Boot Camp!  (We offer them at no charge to new volunteers.

But one of my mentor's once told me, "Everyone needs an IBC, from orange hat to MI."  He's right.  I learn stuff at every one I attend and so will you!  Canton 3-22 was no different!  Ten folks from Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, and Alabama were able to come out for the weekend.

On Saturday, we learned about the fundamentals of teaching and how to teach key blocks of instruction with simplicity and precision.  We also enjoyed CokeGuy leading us through a discussion about telling history effectively.  I was particularly impressed with our IITs Stockbreaker, Yankee Davey, jtdiver, and BeerandDeer.

We reassembled on Sunday morning and got back to work.  During round two of teaching many of the blocks, there was signficant improvement across the board.  :)

Lunch on Sunday is always the highlight of the weekend for me.  We set aside time to do history drills.  Each attendee had been assigned a topic in advance and a time limit of three.  It's a lot of fun and everyone gets to learn something new.  I especially want to mention upacreek for her very poignant story about Hannah Davis.

I am so grateful for the small group leads.  They worked tirelessly and invested their time to make this a wonderful event.  My personal thanks to: Roswell, ScubaSteve, and Leadslinger for leading the groups.  Y'all were awesome!

A special shout-out CokeGuy and Roswell.  Thanks for making this event easy for me.  It's always a pleasure to work with you.

Everyone, thank you for attending Canton 3-22!  I hope the instructors and I served you well and you got what you needed from our weekend together.

Great weekend! Glad to have had a chance to learn and fine tune several points I needed help with. Also glad to now be part of the Georgia cadre! (Sent a thank you card to the sheriff, btw.)

Roswell

Thank you to MO and Cokeguy for their leadership and their never-ending trove of knowledge. I am awed my the dedication and hard work I saw from everyone at the IBC. I'd welcome each and every one of you on my line any time. Keep up the hard work!

Thanks for the great weekend, MO and Cokeguy. It was a lot to take in and you guys make it seem easy. Thanks ScubaSteve and OverMountain for all the pointers in our group - I hope I can remember them. You guys all made our guest welcome and interested enough that he's signed up for 2 Appleseeds and is trying to get a friend to go with him.  ^:)^

A team of great instructors and a great group of students made this IBC not only easy to conduct but a lot of fun.
As usual, Overmountain provided us with irresistible tasty donuts. Thanks to all for a very pleasant weekend. Special thanks to Maximum Ordinate for making the trip from Alabama to lead the IBC, and to ScubaSteve for making the trip from Florida to assist.
Maximum Ordinate's leadership and attention to detail continues to help make Project Appleseed, in my opinion, the best program of its kind!

Overmountain

What an honor to stand as counted among you all this weekend!  It was certainly a thorough refreshing, refining, and reinspiring couple of days.  The weekend closed with a full spirit and gratitude.

An awesome weekend indeed! I for one had a tough winter and it was refreshing to gather with fellow Appleseeders and brush up. Thanks to MO and CokeGuy for facilitating and everyone who attended for the fellowship.

Sounds like an amazing event.  Wish I could've made it.

upacreek -- if you are willing, please write up and share your Hannah Davis story on the Ladyseed thread -- we would LOVE to see/hear it!

Thank you!

It's not about perfection -- it's about progress!!

I LOVE this stuff!

"Perhaps you and I have lived with this miracle too long to be properly appreciative. Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again" Ronald Reagan
