We had 13 shooters gather on two frosty mornings to hear the story of the first day of the Revolutionary War and practice the American tradition of marksmanship.  We had cadre of 9 instructors hailing from Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York and Washington State.  We had a safe and productive shoot with two riflemen re-qualify and one rifleman qualify for the first time.  Congratulations Kamel, Mark and Brett. The strikes were told by 300berg, MattNH and TOMINCT and the students were engaged. We heard about the Dangerous Old Men and the aftermath of that fateful day. To top it off, we gained two new orange hats, thank you Greg and Mark for taking that step.

Thanks to Somers Sportsman's Association for a great range, ability to shoot out to 100 yards after hearing about KD and being a great host.
Appleseed is friend to all, enemy to none

This was alot of fun.
Plenty of sunshine, great people and good shooting.
Some came from pretty far away: New York, New Hampshire & Wash State!

TOMINCT

This was a great event, best IT to student ratio in Ct!

The students took to the instruction at a busy pace. A couple had the usual malfs that plague attendees but everyone hung tough throughout the weekend. Congratulations to those who made RM and stepped up to assist in the cause of Liberty!

Besides that it was good to see a few new and old faces in the IT crew. VietVet, our RC and fearless leader was accompanied by his wife. Cornhskr flew out from WA and the rest, Cait1775, Mwolf from Mass, MattNH and 300berg from NH and finally Parallax and myself, the locals. With this quantity and quality of IT's on hand no one was left without personal attention on the line.

Somers Sportman's is a nice facility that has filled a void in that area of Ct. We thank you for your continuing support and look forward to our next event there in February 2022.

And last, but not least, Appleseed has a new Shoot Boss! MattNH completed his SBIT3 trial under fire and passed with room to spare. I look  forward to seeing his participation at that level and hope to work with him in the future. Congratulations Matt!

There may be a couple other things, should be some more pics from day 1. Will add to the mix again.

In case you haven't gotten the word, a Rifleman persists. HUZZAH!

Somers Sportsmen's Assoc. Inc.'s mission statement is "Firearm Safety Through Education". The Appleseed program fits this mission statement perfectly. The club is proud to host the event and look forward to many more events in the years to come.

Thanks to all who came for making it a fun weekend. The instructor to student ratio was awesome. The event was sold out for months.

The story telling was terrific, very moving!

I look forward to the February event which if Mother Nature cooperates will be a Winterseed.

VietVet

Thanks and congrats to all who were involved in this event. It's been awhile since I was on the Appleseed Trail and couldn't have picked a better Instructor Crew to refresh my need and desire to be back on that trail.
Great range! Thank you Somers Sportsman Association for hosting Appleseed.
Congrats to our new Shoot Boss MattNH who ran this shoot under the guidance of TOMINCT. Well done guys.
Welcome Greg and Mark our newest IIT's. Thanks for stepping up.

As already mentioned the Northeast (and far West) was well represented. We had Instructors from NY, CT, MASS, NH, and Washington State join together and guide the Shooters. That's PRICELESS!!

To the shooters who attended and hung in there on this COLD weekend (not frosty...sorry Matt) job well done.
Hopefully we'll all be back there together in February.

Thanks for having me in CT.  It was a fantastic shoot.  I met some great patriots and will also be bringing back some training tips and techniques to share in WA.  To top off this successful shoot, myself and CT's newest orange hat @edgephoto, will be hitting Battle Road.

Parallax

I'm a little late chiming in. Vietvet, it was great to finally meet you and your wife.
MattNH, 300Berg and Cornhskr, glad to have you come to CT. One day I would like to volunteer at an event up your way.

The February 2022 Appleseed at the Somers Sportsman's Association is up for Registration on the Appleseed website.

And of course a photo of an interesting rifle on the firing line.

300berg

A great shoot!  Super job, MattNH.

We had a shooter, Brett, do some research on a dangerous/daring woman involved in the war.  We talked about her briefly for everyone,
and I have made an addition to our Women's History Month list: https://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=60070  Thanks, Brett.

TOMINCT, I liked learning about the mining camp named "Lexington" during your strike.  Cross state pollination teaches things!

Hope to see you all again.

TOMINCT

Yes, cross pollination is a good way to round out your experiences. There are things that each of us can use to grow and get better. I learned from the weekend as well.

Nice! The Ct crew is overdue for a raid into Mass for a Battle road field trip. Have to see about getting one together before the snow flies too deep.
