Eleven brave patriots gathered for a great day of liberty at the Mountain Top Gun and Archery Range in McMinnville, TN. Even though we were on a mountain, it really wasn't any cooler than it was in the valley. Nevertheless, no one seemed to suffer too much from heat exertion. After the opening remarks, history prelude by Ramblin' Wreck, and a great first strike by Tenn. Beast, we moved to the firing line. We started out with safety (always), the traditional redcoat COF, then moved into instruction in the six steps, prone, and NPOA. After some squares, we covered talking targets, IMC, sitting/kneeling, and standing, with squares scattered in between. And somewhere in there, we took a lunch break while Gator0246 gave us a very well prepared second strike. After covering and practicing transitions, we took an afternoon break to cover KD and listen to Living Hand give an engaging third strike. Lastly, we managed to get in one AQT. We had one requalification - a 235, Huzzah! All of the shooters were attentive and receptive to instruction. Everyone showed marked improvement by the end of the day.

Everyone keep practicing the steady hold factors, six steps, and NPOA. I know you can all qualify and we look forward to seeing you on the line again. Remember, a rifleman persists!

We had a great group of students and instructors.  I enjoyed working with everyone. Overmountain was awarded his Tennessee Cadre patch for his contribution to Tennessee.  Also, someone left their lunchbox at the range (see pictures).  I put it inside the range office.  Call them at (931) 815-2767 or (931) 212-1973 to claim it.  I took some pictures.
In giving us dominion over the animal kingdom, God has signified His will that we subdue the beast within ourselves.

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
Benjamin Franklin, 1775

"A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent of others for essential, particularly military, supplies."  George Washington 1790

"[T]o preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them…"
- Richard Henry Lee, Declaration Signer
