It was a beautiful, albeit hot, weekend at CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park (TMP) for a 25m event.  It was a busy weekend at TMP with both pistol and rifle competitions taking place on various ranges, but we had a perfect location at Range 3.  We had the range to ourselves and were right across the parking lot from the large pavilion area.  If you haven't seen TMP, it's like a luxury resort for shooters and definitely worth a trip to try out their facilities and electronic targets.

Fourteen shooters gathered Saturday morning to learn about rifle marksmanship and to hear the history of April 19, 1775.  We had a mix of new and returning shooters, friends, and families. After hearing the First Strike and shooting the Red Coat, we moved on to instruction and dry fire drills.  By lunch we had started squares targets and were ready for the Second Strike.  Saturday afternoon was spent continuing to build on our skills.

On Sunday we got to the business of shooting some AQTs.  Brad and Ben requalified right away and others were creeping up in their scores.  By the time the day was over Mike, Jaime, and Josh had shown that they were men who knew very well what they were about . . . Huzzah!!  Bulletsquid joined us for Sunday and reminded us that he also knows very well what he is about.  Great job everyone!!  ^:)^ :~

One of the benefits of being at TMP was that we could give people the opportunity to walk over to Range 2 and easily try their hand at 100 yards on Sunday,    The guys that took advantage of that were ready to come back for the KD in November.  We could also let Taylor walk over to Range 4 and try his hand at shooting some reactive steel.  It's been a long time since I saw such a big smile on a young man  ;D

One of my favorite parts of the weekend was being able to award the coveted Red Hat to Mixed Metaphor!  He had been with the program a couple of years in various roles and is one of the most persistent Seventh Steppers I have ever seen.  Congratulations, well done, and HUZZAH!!  :partytime: ^:)^ ^:)^

Again, it was our honor to works with you last weekend and I hope to see all of you again soon.
