Its a google book but you can down load a PDF copy if you look to the far right of the screen for the PDF icon.  Lots of good stuff on the 03 Springfield sights, the targets, the technique, etc.

Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

Wonderful find.

There is a lot of Rifleman knowledge in that file.

I liked on page 10 where they refer to 500 and 600 yards as mid distances. Really sets the expectations that the Riflemans quarter mile is standard performance. And that "fancy shootin" at longer distances can also be expected. :~

Take a moment and remember the kind of man you chose to be when you got yourself out of that last scrape. Maybe you prayed that you would be different if he delivered you. Maybe you found hope here you thought unreachable. Do not concern yourself with anything 'els THAT. Make the mission first.

Great find Old Dog! I've been looking for something like this for keeping a record of how each rifle performs.
"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of crap by the clean end." Texas A&M student

I was talking to VAshooter today and he said this info was pretty much unchanged in the Navy and Marine Corps until the mid 60's or so.  I didn't find it.  I saw a link on another forum I visit and figured with the interest here in old rifles it would be neat for some folks to download and use/read through.

Enjoy.

Very nice find, thanks. looking at the demonstrated sitting and kneeling positions and the importance of keeping the rifle in the shoulder, makes the sling even more important. And the emphasis on calling the shot, every time.
... to catch the fire in another American for sharing the skills and our heritage to our posterity. Maybe my perfect shots will be made by those I met along the trials and trails of Appleseed. I know that America is a nation of Riflemen.

Alot of the positions are what we still use and teach. If the Marine Corps used it trust me it's good to go O0

While it lacks the instructional material of the old scorebook above, This has score pages for our old friend, the "Dog" target.

It's also a nice piece of ephemera for us Garand and Springfield shooters. (Good sight info is included for the Springfield).

I bought a few, and they are as advertised.
