I am considering having a Brimstone Gunsmithing job done on my 10/22 trigger group.  I am trying to decide Tier 1, 2 or 3.  I would like to hear from shooters who have had it done, what they would recommend and why?

Thanks,
Mr_O

The Tier 3 is an outstanding trigger job. It is much better than dropping in a VQ hammer/spring kit. Not only does Brimstone cut the hammer and sear to a better geometry than the VQ kit has, but he polishes all engagement surfaces and does some proprietary work on the sear/disconnector interface (which I will not describe here) as well as smoothing the trigger return plunger and altering the bolt lock plate for auto-release.

For my money, I'd get a Tier 2 for two reasons: First, the Rimfire Technologies aluminum trigger feels better than the OEM Ruger trigger being stiff, smooth, flat, and wide. It promotes a smooth, straight-back trigger squeeze. Second, the torsion spring trigger return system is ice-smooth, light, and more positive than Ruger's plunger mechanism.

I'd describe the Tier 1 as "almost a Kidd for half the price". It may not have Kidd's proprietary hammer/sear geometry or adjustable pull weight, and it doesn't have a beautifully machined aluminum housing, but it feels as close to a Kidd as you can get.
