Some nice weather and range made for a memorable shoot this past weekend at NWCSA in Colebrook, CT. Fourteen shooters answered the call and participated in the day long event.

We started earlier than usual to get the shooters ready to fire at the 9am start time. As several IT's were involved in helping folks get their marksmanship fundamentals down. The IT crew worked throughout the day to fix the things needed to get group sizes smaller and enhance the shooter's capabilities.

The am redcoat gave us a fair idea with a count of six 100 yd and one each at 2, 3 and 400 yard with 4 hitting the shingle and one shooter cleaning it! After the day's instruction and application wound down we had one 100, three 200, one 300 and four 400 yard shooters with 6 shingle hits and 2 cleaning the afternoon redcoat! HUZZAH!

Our man that was so adept at the redcoats was our rifleman  for the day, Anthony, with a sizzling score of 225 on the first AQT.  Keith ended the day in the high 180's for score and cleaning the pm redcoat also. Improvement was seen from most of the attendees by days end.

We also commended our two junior shooters, Taylor and Mikayla, for their resolve with the junior patch.

The history presentations were done by CaptMac, Heavyduty77 and myself with some extra discussion on the BBB sheet and the aftermath of the day 239 years ago.

The Volley commenced on time with the attendees getting some 'help' from the IT crew. It took little urging to have the instructors take part.

All told a most excellent event. A big thank you goes out to the Northwest Ct Sportsman's Assn. for hosting the event. They have been great as a host and we look forward to the upcoming events there later this year.

And to the IT crew of CaptMac, Heavyduty77, edleit, AICIRTAP, Hucktuey and CTShooter for their efforts in running a safe shoot. The IT ratio was almost 2 to 1 and everyone received a fair amount of personal instruction.

Thanks for the photos, Patricia.

An enjoyable day, most notably the 4:00 volley commemorating those who gave their all on that day 239 years ago. And, of course, it's always a treat to have young folks on the line to carry on the heritage.

Congrats to Anthony... very nice work! And for a single day event, there was indeed a lot of individual progress to be noted.

See you next time.
