Folks,

several of you have asked me about the NRA Instructor Certification Bootcamps that are run here in Florida for the BSA, and I promised to post info when it came around again.  So here it goes...

This Trek is recommended for adult Boy Scout Leaders and Venturing Leaders.

All participants must be PRE-APPROVED from the Chief Instructor prior to registration, contact Kevin McGarry for further details

Pre-requisites: Must be 21 years of age.  Must have approval from the course instructor.

Program: Top-notch training program designed with boys and safety in mind.  Fee includes all program materials, use of firearms, 2 year certification, camping and meals. Both weekends will be at Camp La-No-Che. All classes start at 8:00 am each day.

Certification:  Participants who successfully complete this course will have their NRA Rifle, Shotgun, Pistol, Home Firearm Safety Instructor certification and Range Safety Officer certification, which will allow them to be registered Merit Badge Counselors.  This certification also allows the participant to conduct shooting sports programs for their Troop or Crew, as well as, basic firearms classes to the general public.

The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed -- where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once.

-- Justice Alex Kozinski, US 9th Circuit Court, 2003
