Big thanks go out to Don and Karen for hosting another great Appleseed weekend at their Dedicated Appleseed Range (DAR)

Saturday morning started out a bit cool and windy and didn't change much over the course of the day. 5 eager shooters took the line and started to drink from the firehose of instruction. Stephen, Jeremy, Gene and Dalton all had a good foundation of the basics and young Able proved he has what it takes to become a rifleman too. Our first sighter squares were the best I've seen. We progressed at a rapid pace through the morning. Lunch had the stories of the first two strikes of the match as we warmed ourselves inside.

At 3 pm we fired a memorial volley for those that fell on April 19th 1775

By Saturday afternoon Stephen (with a 235) was our first of 4 riflemen forged this weekend.

Next was Gene with a 230

And Jeremy with a 211

Here are Dalton and Able with their patches.

Sunday proved to be a much nicer day with a high of 68. We were removing layers of clothes throughout the day.
Dalton earned his Rifleman patch on Sunday morning with a 220! Way to go Dalton. Gene is Dalton's grandfather. Dalton's whole family were on hand to see him break through!

Todd (Dalton's father and previous Rifleman) joined us on the line today. He re-qualified with a 240! Seems like marksmanship is in the blood!

Thanks to all the shooters for spending your time with us. Thanks to Don, Karen and Roger for being great host and instructors!

It looks like you had a great a weekend, and had a great bunch of shooters. I look forward to making it down to Shenandoah sometime this year. Thank you Buzz for coming down from Minnesota to give us a hand. Also a big thank you to Don, Karen, and Rodger for being such a great anchor and support in southwestern Iowa.
