Just wanted to say thanks to all of the instructors, instructors in training and the shoot boss that were at the Knob Creek Appleseed this past Saturday.

Weather was a little cold and it was muddy (this was at Knob Creek, of course it was muddy) but it was a great time.  Felt bad for having to borrow two rifles especially when it came time to clean the one I had.  Thanks to whoever cleaned the ones we borrowed.

I took my two daughters and they had a blast.  This was my middle daughters second Appleseed and she can't wait for the next one.  I have five kids.  Interestingly, it's easier to get my daughters off of the couch and to a shoot than it is my sons!  I think before the next one, the Xbox will just happen to fall off the shelf.

I still didn't make rifleman.  My daughter decided to "help" me out on my AQT.  When I counted the stage 4; I had 16 hits and her target had zero hits.   Oh well, we're both pretty good cooks.

Planning for the next one, my oldest gets home from college in July so August in Carollton is looking very likely.

Stick with it!  Don't fret, you will get there one day.  One thing I forgot to mention on Saturday was the importance of dry firing.  With an EMPTY rifle and keeping the muzzle in a SAFE direction, you can dry practice at home.  This will make quite a difference in your shooting.  Trust me.  This will allow you to practice the proper steady hold factors for the position, you can work thru firing by the numbers, and you can work on your natural point of aim.  These three things are essential, and dry firing your rifle will get you there.  The best part?  It doesn't cost you anything, and the improvement will often be greater than if you were shooting live rounds.

Riflemen persist!  O0

Glad y'all came out.

Tell your son(s) that if they come out and do well, they might shoot as well as a girl - one of our two Riflemen scores on Sunday was shot by Emily!

Might motivate them a little.  ;D
