Hot, Tired, Dirty, Gota love it! Saturday morning dawned crisp in New Deal just north of Lubbock. The range was ready, set up the evening before. As the sun climbed higher, Americans began to answer the alarm and decend upon New Deal Police range. By 8:30am 18 patriots had mustered, rifles in hand ready to hear the story of how they became American. Law enforcement, engineers, military, mothers and fathers, young and old...We even had a Brit recently off the boat!

We were rolling. Josh on the first Red Coat ran the table, oh boy, we're going to hammer out some Rifleman this weekend! The day ran fast, steady holds, NPOA, 5 spots a plenty. Over a fine lunch provided by William's BBQ, the 3 strikes went from a fizzle to a fire, as we became AMERICAS. Now the time monkey and transitions. CAQT..., OK, lets see what they can do on the QDAQT...As they poured over the scores, Josh after running the "Hit's Count" that morning turned in an impressive 234!  O0 Josh knows what he is about!  The last Red coat of the day showed great improvement and we knew Sunday was going to be a great day!

Sunday morning, 15 of our nations finest on the line, review and proceeded to hammer out Rifleman on the anvil. The instructors provided a lot of down in the dirt one on one. There was some tears flowing as DOM/W was told at lunch. CJ was the next to step up with a Rifleman's score. Then Jeff with a 211. Bryce, a young fellow was turning in 180's-190's with a bolt action. Shad, both Greg's, and several others were knocking hard turning in 200's, 205's, 208,s...but it wasn't to be.  The final Red Coats got hammered, (young Sydney really getting after them.) as the tired and hot Americans road off into the sun set. No doubt to respond to the call again another day. I am humbled and priviledged to have shared this weekend with them. Special thanks to the New Deal PD for allowing us to use their facilities and Texas hospitality can't be beat anywhere....O.L.

Words cannot sufficiently express how privileged I feel in having a part in this shoot.  Every student displayed such great enthusiasm, perseverance, humor and an awesome sense of community, it just touched me to the core.  I am so proud of our new Riflemen, Josh, C.J. and Jeff, men who very much know what they are about.  I am excited for those knocking on the door and those who persevered to improve so much.  There's no doubt in my mind that they all have what it takes to achieve anything they set their mind to!  I have a feeling that there will be many happy dances the next time and I'll be the first to join in!  ^:)^
I would like to thank David and Tim, as well as Sgt. Greg Parrott and the New Deal Police Department for going above and beyond the call of duty to make this shoot such a success.  Makes me darned proud to have shared the same calling of law enforcement in their service to their community and it has been a privilege to have met you!
I also have to add how proud I am of the ladies and young ladies out there toughing it out right alongside the guys!  There's no doubt in my mind that Nancy Morgan Hart, Mother Batherick, Debra Samson and Abigail Adams would have been proud as punch seeing you out there right alongside the guys holding your own.  Karen displayed the grace and grit of our British ancestors newly arrived on America's shores and built the foundation of our thoughts of liberty.  I have no doubt she will achieve much with her plucky spirit and perseverance! O0
It was quite simply an awesome shoot and I'm so looking forward to the next one!

Great job guys, I had a blast.  We are honored to have the shooters attend the event and also honored that the guys from NM came over to put it on.  I want to congratulate all the shooters for improving their marksmanship skills and especially the three that earned their patch.  Here are a few more pictures from the event...

Ya gotta love that TEXAS hospitality!  I really enjoyed the chance to share our heritage with such a group of patriots.  The Lubbock/New Deal area is on the map and with such an enthusiastic group I'm sure it will continue to grow. Congratulations to all of the new "Riflemen" and for the rest of you that are knocking at the door, remember; "only perfect practice makes perfect"
A special thanks to Sgt. Parrott and the New Deal Police Department for all of the support they provided and for filling the lines with shooters.

Milt and I are still talking about the great group of people we meant in New Deal and what a wonderful time we had working with you.  I am so proud of Josh, CJ and Jeff for acheiving rifleman status, you three are men who know what you are about....I am sure next shoot will see Greg, Shad and Bryce joining the ranks of riflemen....you were all so close.....
Sidney you were shooting so great already with a gun too big for you, I can't wait to see what you will do when you have a gun made for an 11 year olds....look out other shooters, you may be shown up!
Tabitha, I am so honored you spent your 15th birthday with us.  I hope to see you at the next Appleseed....you were giving your all and steadly improving...keep up the good work!
Thank you Sgt Parrott and your whole crew for being such wonderful host......I don't know when we have felt more welcome at a range.
We can't wait to see and work with you all again......I can see why Texas is such a great state if you all represent the general population.  Until we meet again! Margie
