Will wait for 7.62BBQ to do the Shoot Boss AAR but wanted to relate a great story about the effectiveness of Appleseed instruction and link you to some photos. Please go to our new facebook link for the latest pictures.

In one of the photos, on the very left side of the line, you'll see a photo of a young lady who had never fired a rifle before. She was crushed and embarrassed after the morning "Redcoat" because she did not have one single shot on the target. Regardless, she was there for the day and with great attention to instruction, applied each lesson as diligently as possible without complaint. As the groups appeared and became smaller her confidence increased. Following the Saturday afternoon benediction, and a detailed story of Timothy Murphy, she returned to the line and was one of four students who "Cleaned" the "Redcoat"! What a smile! Her name is Luanne and she is an Interior Designer. Just missed Rifleman with a 208 on Sunday.

You really have to watch those interior designers. Tricky they are.

Congratulations to Luanne and the Ramseur instructors. You guys know your stuff!!!

It was a gorgeous weekend for an Appleseed. We had perfect weather with temp's in the 70's for both days. 28 shooters on Saturday and 23 shooters on Sunday. We started the morning with our welcome/safety briefing and then had everyone bring their rifles down to the firing line. 'The Beard' was the line boss so he went over the line commands and the Red Coat target. We had them fire 13 shots and then went over the results. I'll just say they had come to the right place to improve their rifleman skills :)).

Next came the sighter squares. Through the morning we gave instruction on the prone position, the web sling, 6 steps to firing the shot, Natural Point of Aim, Inches minutes clicks, Rifleman's Cadence and Ball and Dummy. We closed out the first half of the day with our lunch break and the first part of the April 19, 1775 story, told by len1459.

Next came the other 2 positions, standing and sitting. The afternoon started to move a little quicker as we progressed through all of the course of fire. Standing, then standing to sitting and finally standing to prone. We took another break and had Lawrence tell the 2nd part of the 4/19/1775 story and then on to the 1st AQT! Took another break and Lawrence finished the last part of the 4/19/1775 story. We ended the day with one more Red Coat target. No rifleman patches were handed out on Saturday but like Lawrence said...4 of the students cleaned the Red Coat targets! Huzza!!!!

We started our Sunday session with a talk about the benifits of the CMP. Hawkeye ran a class about the M1 Garand(break down, history, operation, etc.) and Lawrence ran a small class on the Ruger 10/22. After this we had an over view of yesterdays instuction, some Dangerous Old Men stories and then on to the firing line.

We shot a Red Coat target and a few sighter squares and then ran an AQT. The Kid gave his known distance lecture. We had some students stay on the 25 yard range with the others going up to the 500 yard range. Now for those of you who are not familiar with the Ramseur range, we get to shoot at steel out to 500 yards, a full distance AQT out to 400 yards, we can confirm your 25 yard zero at 200 or 300 yards, and of course the famous reactive pop-up targets all the way out to 450 yards. The shooters got to take turns confirming their zeros and then blasting those pop-ups! A great time was had by all. The shooters even got to shoot some of the Instructors M1 Garands, and watching the youngest and newest rifleman on the range take my Winchester M1 and hit the popups at 200 and 300 yards, well let me say I'm still grinning about that.

We had a total of 3 Rifleman earn their patches on Sunday with a few others right on the line(keep at it Luanne!). Now you know the skills of the American Rifleman and the heritage of April 19,1775. Now get your family, neighbors, co-workers, polititians, etc to the range.

I'd like to thank all of the Instructors: Lawrence, Hawkeye, law man, len1459, Sadman, Grathlong, G19Jenz, CplTurner, the beard, The Kid, our Range Boss Wildman, and Fred. You guys and gals make the Ramseur range a great place to learn about marksmanship and the 4/19 heritage, keep up the good work!
