There are good things happening in South Dakota! The shoot at Chamberlain produced two new Riflemen and one new Orange hat. Congratulations to Jason and Scott for shooting to Rifleman's standards and to Jason for accepting the Orange Hat.

Our day started out with quite a light show before dawn. A large thunderstorm rolled over the South Dakota plains with heavy rain and lightning. By shoot time it had cleared off and we started getting ready for the day.

Shoot boss Alex was pleased as we watched our one Saturday shooter start in on his redcoat target in prone position by shifting his NPOA between bell targets. Jason proved to be a good student and continued to work hard all day and shoot to rifleman's standard later that afternoon. He cleaned the redcoat at the end of the day.

On Sunday morning we opened with our redcoat target and review and were greeted by Scott. He was driving by the range, saw the Appleseed sign, heard shooting and came down to check us out. After answering his questions, he asked if he could join us for the day. He went home to get his gear and brought back daughter Jenna too! Alex and Jason got busy chopping out two more shooting lanes out of the healthy vegetation that grows on this little used range. Good thing Jason brought his weed whip on Sunday! We got everyone up to speed with the positions, sighted in the rifles and got into AQTs after lunch. Scott proved to be a fast learner also and shot 213 on his second AQT of the afternoon.

It was a great weekend. The scenery, as you can tell in the pictures, was awesome. The participants were enthusiastic and eager to learn about becoming Instructors and grabbing a bucket. Thank you Jason, Scott and Jenna!
