The Posterity of a brave generation met to remember, to honor, and to shoot. 
Making good use of Liberty over one weekend. 

Five groups of families, friends and individuals, all persisted and applied themselves to the martial art of free people: rifle shooting.   

A weekend like that only happens in free country, which is to say, in very few places on this planet.

Young kids heard stories of heroism, sacrifice and duty. 

     "Hannah, take good care of the children," 

Yes- to hone Liberty's edge, to shore up her foundations through remembrance of her price- and obligations- is good care for children, and for us all.

To afford our Posterity a greater measure and expectation of Freedom than would otherwise have been.   

Thank you all for your participation in the Dulzura Appleseed this past weekend.  Your enthusiasm, seriousness, good humor and families boost us up a great deal. 

Thank you also to our Instructors- Steve, Greg, and Joseph.  Your time is very much appreciated. 

Young shooters- persist with shooting, and continue to improve yourselves.  It's very good to see you all seriously and safely carrying on our tradition of Freedom.  Make sure you do the same for kids some day when it's your turn. 

I met so many very decent and thoughtful people; thank you all for attending.  Persist and do not be discouraged in finding your Rifleman destination: after this event, you now have a compass and a map, and so with work, you'll surely get there. 

Saturday, the shooters patiently listened to briefings, instructions and drills, and then practiced it all on the firing line. 

Sunday, the shooters executed on AQTs all day long.  Riflemen, the outcome of persistence, emerged. 

Mike, well done.  You persevered and achieved a distinguished result, to the Founders' approval, I'm sure.  Thanks for including your family, too.

Bob- a man steeped in persistence.  Despite uncooperative joints and not a little pain, you finally achieved the goal.  Very hard earned, and congratulations.  I was privileged to award your patch.   

Patrick- I did expect great things from the Marlin with the target grade aperture sights.  Plain old carry strap sling, too; you did just fine.  Thanks for matching up your skill set to the capability of your fine old rifle. 

Jeff stuck with it and shot it up.  It was a pleasure to see you earn that patch.  You're welcome back any time.   Share what you know. 

Shooting isn't a puncuated event in time; rather, it's a pursuit toward excellence over your lifetime.

It should take some work, it should discipline your mind and improve your body; it is a light not to hide under a basket.  Teach what you learn.  I am very proud to have assisted our shooters and hope that they'll take- and share- the fundamentals from this weekend. 

Thank you to the Vu family, the Petscheks, Maskalenkos, and to Bob for sharing so much food with me and with their fellow attendees.  I never even opened up my jar of peanut butter!

Howdy! first post, so apologies in advance if i did it wrong.

Thanks for taking the time to show us the way, and for teaching us not only the proper way to make every shot count, but why it is imperative that we, as Americans, be diligent in the maintenance of our abilities, for the benefit of our selves, our families, and our country. The sacrifices made by our forefathers were not taken lightly by this humble shooter, and will not be forgotten.

So thanks again for the stellar work of all you fine instructors, and i hope to see you folks on the line again soon.  :)

Jeff here! My first post as well. I'd like to second everything Patrick said. I'm very grateful that RWVA is out there spreading the message that you guys are spreading, and I will also do my part and take that "seventh step". Planning on making it back to Dulzura in April for the next Appleseed, and am trying to get a few people to come with me!

Also, will you be posting the other pictures taken this past weekend? If so I'd like to see them!

Thanks again guys. The only way I ever would have been able to shoot to a Rifleman's standard is with the instructors' help. I appreciate it!

4 new rifleman!  Way to go guys.  Patrick I have your quarter! ^:)^  My path down the rifleman trail won't be complete until I shoot rifleman with my Marlin 39a.

I am always surprised to see RM scores with buckhorn type sights  :o Personally I have never achieved better than 6moa with that arrangement .
Patrick ,have any tips on how you did it?  ;)

Hello again!

The redfield sight on my marlin is actually an aperture mounted to the back of the receiver. Honestly, I think I just caught some good fortune. I stuck to the six steps as best I was able, and just turned the rest of my brain off. :)

Congratulations to our 4 new SoCal Riflemen!

If I could have been there as an IIT, I would have been! ...especially since SBRGC is my "home range". Hopefully I'll be home in time to make it for the next Dulzura AS.

To everyone else who didn't make Rifleman this time - keep at it. You'll get there. It's not talent - it's proper application of the fundamentals.
Practice makes perfect, right? WRONG! *PERFECT* practice makes perfect. Keep dry-firing and practicing at home, but remember to stick to the proper techniques that you learned at the Appleseed. Identify and eliminate those bad habits, and you'll earn your Rifleman patch in no time!

Here, Here Jamie!! As was pointed out by FM on Saturday putting ammunition through your rifle should only be 10% of your marksmanship training. Dry Fire, Dry Fire, Dry Fire!!!!! I will remind everybody that as I pointed out, one week of Marine Corps Boot Camp is dedicated to getting into shooting positions and just dry firing. If its good enough for the Corps, its good enough for each and everyone of us. Steve, I notice that there are suspiciously few pictures of me..... I'm starting to wonder if I'm a vampire and my image will not show up on camera  :cool2: I would like to thank all of the fellow instructors, I can definitely make a habit out of working with the fine crew that we have here in so-cal. Jamie, keep your head down out there on the pointy end of the sharpened stick, get back here safe, we are gonna need you in corona for our record setting shoot.

You were a Saturday only type of guy,
and you won't notice any pictures of Saturday,
because I COMPLETELY FORGOT to take any.
Apologies to all the Saturday only folks, remind me next time.
But, you missed Sunday afternoon's RAIN.
As an IIT, I was somewhat 'bummed' by the scores on Saturday and seriously thought I must have been doing something wrong, not to get the shooters groups tighter and groups on target.  But we all kept plugging away, emphasizing building good shooting positions and the six steps to firing the shot.  Lo and behold, halfway through Sunday the groups got noticeably smaller and closer to POA (Point Of Aim).  Much emphasis was made that shooting is a MENTAL DISCIPLINE also, and good expectations are usually rewarded.

Your version of "ineffective" does not necessarily reflect the truth....
Having been "ineffectively" taught to the Rifleman Standard and having been "ineffectively" taught to teach others to the Rifleman Standard, I believe I prefer the "ineffective" over the other choice.

Thank You ALL who showed up , instructed, and shot. My family and I had a great time.  I was finally able to get my wife and children out to shot.  Angelena and Nick had a great time and want to come back.  It was Angelena's first AS and she was shooting a 10/22 with a 3x scope.  Her best score was a 191 and her very first (and lowest) was a 160.  She doesn't shoot with me very often, but when she does, she always makes me so proud. 

Kim... You need to advance that little girl up to a 10/22.  The food was great, the company was great and was good to finally meet Joe.
Bob, it's always a pleasure to see you. 
Francis, Thank You VERY much for another great AS (other than the rain), It was your first story back in May that got me interested in 4/19/1775.  The history is far more interesting than the shooting.  Sorry you didn't get to crack that peanut butter.  The oranges will be better if we can make it out to the April shoot.  If not, I might have to just run some by and say  O0


I made Rifleman only by the 30 cal rule, so I think I need to get out there one more time with irons make it a "no question" 210 or better.
