First time shoot at Athens.

It was a good shoot with 18 people showing up. Good weather with temps in the 60s and sunny. As usual met lots of fine people who were ready to learn to shoot and hear some history. The best part was getting 4 patches out. Hopefully one of the guys will sign up to instruct too. I sure hope so. If we double next year it sure will be nice to get some extra help.

I was able to meet OldFart for the first time. This was his first shoot as an instructor. He's a really nice guy and I sure am glad we had the extra help. It sure would have been tough if he wasn't there to help out. Thanks OldFart. Hope to see you again on the trail.

As with just about every other shoot I've been to there was a contingent of homes schooled kids. And they even knew some American Revolution history. They were all well mannered kids which are a credit to their parents. Seeing kids like that surely gives me hope for this country.

The Athens shoot was our first Appleseed event. I brought 3 of my kids and a couple extra that are usually hanging around and we all had an enjoyable and educational experience.

I appreciate the dedication of the volunteers (Reddot, Scuzzy, and Oldfart) in giving of their time to make the shoot possible.  Reddot is very good at his job and communicates very well.  My kids enjoyed working with Scuzzy and his instruction on stable platforms and NPOA was key to our shooting success.  Oldfart was working the other end of our line so we didn't get to work with him much but he called the line some on Sunday and kept us on track.

Safety was stressed and enforced and in the words of Reddot - "We all went home with the same number of holes that we came with."

The marksmanship training is great and the history is something that we all need to hear and remember. My group is already talking about the next one and are motivated to improve their skills.

As a first-time IIT, I couldn't have had a better group of instructors and shooters with whom to work. Reddot and Scuzzy guided me through with gentle nudges (that probably should have been swift kicks), and the young folks on my end of the line were patient and attentive. Can't beat a deal like that!

It was great to see a father and two of his three sons go home with patches from their first Appleseed. That was one dedicated family!

Thanks to all who made it a great experience!

Hey Pop,

I'm planning on being in Davilla on the 18-19th of Dec and taking my RH PC with Scout. I think I got all the stuff memorized now.

And it's a good thing oldfart was taking the pictures. At least they were in focus!! Tell Sally howdy for me. Hope to see you again soon. Oh, and give Respritory Pup and pat for me.

Sharna says hi.
