Romeo's Hero

What a great Appleseed this past weekend. As I shared with the shooters I had had a very difficult week but being at this Appleseed had really raised my spirits and I hope that it raised the spirits of all who were at this shoot.

On Saturday we had 15 shooters, about half of them were returning Appleseeders. We started the day out with our Red Coat targets and the shooters found out what their effective range was before any instruction. Then with very attentive shooters we taught them about building a good solid position, how to find Natural Point of Aim, and how to execute the 6 Steps of Firing the Shot. The shooters progressed in their abilities and then continued applying these same skills to the seated and standing positions. During lunch the shooters where very involved in stories of our American Heritage and enjoyed hearing the events of April 19, 1775.

On Sunday a few of our shooters (and the shoot boss - oops that's me) got stuck in traffic from a Marathon in town and wound up getting there a little behind schedule but we picked up the pace immediately and began our day with redcoats and a sheet of squares. Once we had everyone sighted and had finished the squared in the clock said it was almost noon so we pushed hard to get in 1 AQT before lunch  ~~:), then we realized that Day Light Savings had ended the previous night so we had hour before lunch ++) - which meant more AQTs  ^:)^. We had a lot of fun throughout the day and in the process gained 2 rifleman and many people developing the the heart of a rifleman ready to take on the 7th step.

Rifleman:
Garrett  - 3rd appleseed (first time doing a Sunday)
Matt - I think also the 3rd appleseed

Instructors
Romeo's Hero - Shoot Boss
Double D
Furrow Foot - IIT3
BP - promoted from II1 to IIT2

Shooters don't forget: the range wants more appleseeders as members, they are offering $25 off a 1yr family membership (reg $145). This means no daily range fees (including at an appleseed) and access to the member's range which has gongs out to 300yrds.  :---

Also the schedule is up for next year - we will see you all back on Feb 5-6, 2011 at FRCP
We look forward to seeing you all again the Feb 5-6, 2011 at FRCP
Rifleman's Cadence: one well placed shot every 2 to 3 seconds..... unless your hyperventilating (modified from AmbulanceDriver)

Thanks to everyone who came!
It was a fun weekend, getting some experience in as Line Boss, and helping people get one step closer to being Riflemen.

I'm going to try posting some pictures.  I'm going to do one picture and then come back and edit my post for the rest if it will let me.  If not, I'll post a second time.  :P

Mrs. Swann Centerfire

Okay, I can't edit the above post so here's the remaining pictures of the day's events.

I'm bummed I didn't get any pictures of all of us actually shooting but I'll know better for next time.   O0

My husband and I are new to Appleseed.  We are proud T.E.A. Party Patriots and it was at the T.E.A. Party that we found out about Appleseed (at the NRA booth).

This was our first shoot and we loved it.  Can't wait to do it again!  Kevin's already trying to recruit more family members and friends.

Guns and target shooting have always been a part of my life.  Up until these past few years, I was more or less a passive on-looker.  With the way things are politically, I think it's high time I get myself in-the-know in case I ever need to protect myself and my family.  My 7th great-grandfather is Jonathan Browning so it's in the blood!   8)

We loved the scenery from the range so you'll have to endure two pictures of that.   ;D

We snuck this one in against DD's will:

My husband was #24 & I was #25.  He was shooting a 30-06 and I was shooting a .243.  I think we did pretty good for our first time:

Me and my hubby.  The weather was insane with wind, rain, and sun so I have a nice wind-blown look:   ::)

Thanks again for a great time, everyone!  Looking forward to the next one already!
