Funny how Appleseeds just seem to get more enjoyable as time goes on.

DesertDog & I were helped out by IIT's RedOne45 & Trebleshooter. We had 8 shooters show up on Saturday, who all showed a great attitude despite the weather. One didn't shoot & only stayed until after lunch, & three ended up being Saturday only. The forecast called for rain Saturday morning, which was supposed to peter out before noon. Back in the real world, it rained all day, but RedOne45 thought to bring a 10'x20' cover that managed to keep everyone somewhat dry!

All but 2 of our shooters had been to at least one Appleseed before, & all were experienced shooters. We started the day with the safety briefing & an introduction to our American heritage, then brought the shooters to the line, shooting Redcoats. We moved on to points of instruction separated by firing at squares. After some food & history for lunch, we continued on. Everyone performed well, but we didn't achieve any rifleman scores on Saturday. By the end of the day though, we were each lugging about 7 pounds of mud per foot!

On Sunday, the clouds remained, but it stayed dry & we even got a bit of sunlight in the afternoon! We saw a total of 3 shooters return, Scott, Bobbie, & Brandon, as well as one Sunday only shooter, Larry. Of our Sunday group, we had 3 shooters who had already scored riflemen, Scott, Brandon & Larry.

Everyone made good use of the review period & practice squares before we began to shoot AQT's.  By the end of the day, everyone shot rifleman scores multiple times!  :~

Throughout the day, we broke things up by changing our rhythm, with "Nail the Tank", & fine tuning with various skill drills.

Our newest Rifleman, Bobbie, not only shot rifleman three times, she also got the high score of the weekend, a 227!  O0

She also decided to take the Orange Hat, joining RangeRat (Dan) & TrebleShooter (Ashley) to make it a family of teachers!

Thanks, (yes, again!) to everyone who showed up, both to teach & to shoot.

Hey Minuteman, I've been there in May, so I know what your talking about ;D.  I'll take the rain!!  We had some "pools: along side of the range, but managed to keep thjem out of the firing line.

By Sunday afternoon we had a line consisting of all Rifleman, a first for me.  Charlie didn't make his Rifleman, but wants to come to the IBC in Mar.  Pat popped in on Sunday.  He just returned from an overseas work commitment and is ready to get going again.

I got to put some rounds downrange with Scott's AR-15 that has some mods I've been thinking about getting.

Here's some pics.

Definitely was the most fun of the Appleseeds I'd been to.  Weather could have been nicer, but we were all troopers about it.  ;D
Thank you Chris and Erik for your instruction and leadership.  It definitely helped throughout the weekend.
Congrats to mom!
Does anyone have any ideas (other than flyering and word of mouth) on how we can get more people involved?

ChrisH and Desertdog sounds like a different Boulder city range! then the one I remember!
The one Koolaid and I did in Sept (110 and no shade) I can see the mud...but did ya have a lake? @)

Not like the lake you had down in Corona this weekend!

Trebleshooter aptly noted on Saturday afternoon that the range was starting to look like a corral!  ++) I think there may be a pic out there somewhere of it... Heh.
