A beautiful sunny weekend in Southern California at the South Bay Rod and Gun Club in some of the prettiest country side just west of San Diego.

I'd like first to thank our host, Tom Fox, who was incredibly attentive and helpful to Francis Marion and myself during the weekend. This is a nice, large covered range, and Tom had even installed target backer post holes at the proscribed 82' distance so setting up the range with their supplied backers and target frames was a breeze. Thank you Tom.

On Saturday we had 15 great American shooters come out to share with us. Nine persevered and stayed with us on Sunday, some audibly groaning from the aches and pains but they persisted to the end.

Scores improved all weekend, several topping out in 200+, but not quite getting there. By Sunday as light faded we shot our last Redcoat with six surviving shooters. Three of them afterwards used the remaining light to shoot "just one more AQT" and our Rifleman Jon made it with a 212... persistence pays off.

Quite a few of the Sat shooters openly admitted they were there to "see what we were like" and were adamant they will return with the rest of the family. To that end, we are finalizing dates with the club but should be back there in the fifth weekends of May and October - watch the schedule for final dates - and we will be in Escondido in March and April.

As always it was a pleasure and a privilege to once again be able to spend time with some of the best people in the greatest country on earth.

Hopefully someone got some pictures, so weigh in on this thread folks and lets us and other potential attendees reading these threads know what it was like and help us improve the program.

Cheers

Jared and I had a great weekend! Thanks to Francis and Phil for staying late with us to Shoot just one More AQT. Jared came real close at least 3 times, and I made Rifleman on the last one. We will see You in Escondido, can't wait for another weekend of Appleseed.

CONGRATULATIONS on persisting and becoming a Rifleman.

V Thanks for the report. I only wish I could have made it to the event. Sounds like a great partnership with this range.  O0

This event was my first Appleseed and I'm hooked.  Hats off to V and Francis for some outstanding marksmanship training and history lessons.  I'm looking forward to the 20-21 March Appleseed in Escondido and shooting a Rifleman score.

Best Regards,

Abu Josh

We have confirmation from Tom at South Bay Rod and Gun that we have the fifth weekends in May and October at Dulzura. Thanks guys.

Escondido has a capacity of 30 shooters and I believe our marine attendee at Dulzura has Seventh stepped big time to get many of his fellows to come out to Escondido in march and has issued a challenge to the local Army National Guard unit there, who are now also trying to drum up attendees. So bottom line folks get on the Eventbrite registration for Escondido in March before it fills up!

Abu Josh.

Welcome to the forum. We understand that feeling. You have the heart of a Rifleman.  O0 Congratulations on that.

ABU Josh, Were You one of the last three shooters on Sunday eve? Either way, see You in Escondido.

...So what did you do last weekend?
-I spent the weekend in the 18th century soaking up the wisdom and inspiration of our patriot Heritage, and had a great time shooting rifles besides.  I was Appleseeding, you see...

Folks, it was a pleasure to meet new shooters and catch up with 'old hand' Appleseeders from last April and October.  Families and couples and individuals persevered.

Congratulations to Jon for shooting a Rifleman score.  Persistence paid off.

Matt shot a Rifleman score again, just as he did last time.  Well done, all.

Many neared the Rifleman mark Sunday, and I know that they'll surpass it next time.

There's well over a month to dry fire until March 20-21 at Escondido.  A shooter who practices their
-position steady hold factors,
-natural point of aim (establishing and finding, plus shifting from target to target) and
-'by the numbers' shot firing sequence

STANDS AN EXCELLENT CHANCE of shooting a distinguishing score on the range.

Looking forward to March 20-21.

Jon, I was the shooter to the right of Jared on Sunday.  Looking forward to seeing you all again.
