Am I the only one who is looking to buy as much ammo as I can? lol Apparently not............I am just wondering if any of you are having problems finding quantities of ammo. Particularly, semi automatic ammo. .223, 30 Carbine, 7.62..etc.

30 carbine is a problem. Even the components for reloading are difficult to acquire now (and for the last 6 months).

However, this link has the 30 carbine projectiles in stock currently:

Another source for projectiles is:

Another good supplier is:

Get the latest Shotgun News with the shiny cover story about the new US made bullpup rifle. I saw Portugese and Radway Green 7.62 for sale in some of the ads. !@#) !@#) Good luck. :D

Anybody try the Hornady short jackets in a .30 cal. carbine?  Lead nose but jacketed base and sides where they touch the rifling.  They give pretty good accuracy in 30.06's at velocities in the 2000 fps range.

I haven't been blessed with an M1a so I don't have much expirience with 7.62 NATO.

But I recieved a link from AMMOMAN.com:  http://www.ammoman.com/webstore_308.htm

I'm finding that here in the Democratic Socialists Peoples Republic of New Jersey certain ammo is becoming harder to find.   I went to the Gun show in Valley Forge Pa. on March 15, the guy that I buy ammo from, had no .223, .308, 7.62x39, .38 spl and I got the last case of .45acp that he had.  All he sells is ammo and he does not sell to dealers!  On the way home I stopped at 2 fairly large gun shops, one had 2 cases of .223 and no .308, I bought both 1,000 rnd cases of .223 The next shop had no.308, but he did have 20 500 rnd cases of .223 for an inflated price of about 15% of the first shop. It looks like if the shops around here have it, they are going to squeeze your nuts for all they can.

I bought a box of speer 30 carbine that sound just like what you are describing, copper base and 1/2 way up the side, but exposed lead on the front.  I need to load some up and see how they feed and how they perform on a target.

Guys,

Our local gunshop, owned by our range operators son, is well stock still in most major calibers. The only shortage right now appears to be money. Most stuff is pretty expensive, but he does have a good stock and does ship.

The shop is Mission Essential in Hinesville Georgia. Phone is 912-408-2006. Address is 918 Hollywood Drive, Hinesville Georgia 31313.

Talk to Joshua Works and tell him you are with the Appleseed program that shoots at his dad range 3 times a year. He has given our Appleseed walkin customers a discount before and he may do it again.

The shop has a web presence on Gunbroker.com and he operates under the name "Competitive".

I have no financial interest in this store of any kind, just putting the word out.

Saw this on arfcom and thought I'd pass it along.  .22 Blazer ammo at Palmetto Armory.

Never having priced it I don't know if it's a good buy or not ($185/5,000 rounds + $12 shipping) but the ad seems to say they have it in stock (some other ammo types I looked at stated they were out of stock.)

This week I spoke with a small amunition manufacturer from Anoka MN.  He lives near the Federal Ammunition plant up there and knows people who work there.  He told me that Federal (and others I suspect) had been holding back on ammunition deliveries in anticipation of an federal exise tax increase which they could use to skim the difference in profit between the release of the notification and the implementation of the charges.  The tax hasn't materialized.  They are supposedly sitting on warehouses full of ammo and are now out of room.  The anticipated release date of the ammo is after May 1st.  Of course this doesn't do anything for the surplus ammo prices.

The 100gr Hornady short jacket bullets work fine in a carbine. The 110gr round nose soft points not so good. The edge of the jacket gets hung up on the feed ramp causing a stoppage.

Does not surprise if they are holding out.

Was at a local shop the other day, saw they had the Blaser Bulk pack (525rds loose) for $29.95 or so.

The Federal .223 100 rd boxes have shown back up at WM in my area of KY.  They are still the same price as before the shortage ($40).

I went to a local gunshow last Sunday in Fredricksburg, VA to hand out flyers for an Appleseed coming up in Montpelier. Not very many people shopping and dealers had lots of ammo. Prices were less than the last show but still high in my opinion. I bought 200rd pack of Portugese for about $160. About half of the brass shows discoloration with about 30 rounds showing what I would call corrosion. I haven't shot any of it yet but it looks like it should work ok. From what I've seen in Shotgun News and online, Samco Global is importing this. They are advertising it for about $110 plus shipping per 200rd pack. Also lots of AR's and AR recievers but no one had one of the crossbow uppers for the AR I saw in SGN. Damn ;D Wolfman

I just assumed everyone knew about Sportsman's Guide, but as it is not mentioned here....  While they carry ammo, and usually a couple dollars cheaper than most other stores,  and lots of other stuff, they do not carry guns.
