Title: Martin, GA AAR - Nov. 20, 2021
Post by: 76Patriot on November 22, 2021, 07:47:16 AM
The day started very frosty, resulting in only two shooters showing up.  After opening remarks, we covered safety before shooting a redcoat target.  This redcoat showed us that we had a lot of work to do.  We then heard the first strike of the match before moving to marksmanship instruction.  We began our instruction with proper grip, the isosceles stance, the six steps of firing the shot, and natural point of aim, all of which were interspersed with various dry fire and live fire exercises.
Then at lunch we heard the second strike of the match and covered the talking targets module where we learned how to listen to what our targets were telling us about our groups.  We then learned how to perform proper reloads, how to handle malfunctions, and how to perform target transitions.  Next we covered controlled pairs and double taps, followed by center line index, low ready, and rapid fire.  We wrapped up our instruction with how to shoot one-handed before hearing the third strike of the match.  We finished the shooting part of the day by engaging a PQT.
While the shooters declined shooting another redcoat to compare skills before and after instruction, I can attest that there was a LOT of improvement throughout the day.  I will also point out that they were both shooting centerfire pistols, which definitely adds to the challenge of scoring Pistoleerâ„¢.
We did a final review of everything taught so that they could practice these skills at home, then we finished the day with our benediction.
Thank you to both of our shooters for the great attitudes and willingness to learn.  Practice at home before returning to another event, and I am confident you will see further improvement.  That Pistoleerâ„¢ patch is indeed possible for both of you.
