Another excellent event at Mansfield Fish and Game! Mansfield has always been a very friendly range and I thank them for their friendly support to the program. And the weather held back right till the last moment on Saturday. No rain, just pleasant shooting with a bit of wind giving the shooters a moving target every now and then.
Instruction proceeded as normal after the morning safety brief. Steady Hold Factors, Six Steps to Firing the Shot, NPOA, and onwards towards to glory! Most of the shooters were veteran Appleseeders and we rapidly completed the general instruction and hit AQTs well before quitting time on Saturday.
Sunday shooting started at noon, ensuring all the shooters were well rested and ready for action. By the end of the day we had several requalified Rifleman and some new ones who surprised themselves, scoring their best on the final AQT.
Congratulations to everyone. not all made rifleman but all had a fun and safe weekend filled with learning and practice. Hopefully it has been instilled - a Rifleman persists! I encourage everyone, even our Riflemen from the weekend, to keep up with their dry firing so that they can come back and chase after becoming Distinguished!
Hi Matt,
Thanks again for running such a great shoot! It was excellent. You and the other instructors did a great job running a productive, informative, safe and fun shoot.
We'll be back!
Any action photos?
Best,
Bill
Well said mwolf. Hard to get a better and friendlier range than Mansfield. A good crew of veterans and newbies who across the board showed significant improvements in skill and knowledge. Also during the breaks with strikes and history earnest appreciation and dialogue to flesh out more of our common heritage. Again I would suggest the book "Founding Martyr" by a local boy Christian Di Spigna, fills in a bit of the gaps lost to history.
