Title: Redmond WA June 12 2021 AAR
Post by: GTEngineer on June 14, 2021, 11:46:35 PM
We had a group of 5 dedicated attendees on what would be considered a fairly hot and humid day in the PNW thanks to the pineapple express weather front moving through.  All 5 attendees were brand new to any type of clinic held by Project Appleseed, and it just happens to be they were also attending the very first 1/2 "Introduction to Appleseed" clinic for Washington state!

A whole lot of topics were covered all at once, everything needed to get them firing in the prone position.  After an introduction to the 10/22 rifle briefing, safe rifle rules, safety rules, and a lot of hands on dry fire practice.  We got right into shooting at the sighter squares to get everyone sighted in.  Square after square, attendees were introduced to what to look for in their hole patterns to self diagnose (instructors were also right there to assist) and look for areas of improvement.  Square after square, everyone's groups started to improve into something more manageable to make sight adjustments with.  After approximately 7 squares, we got into the hits count target and finished the day talking about the story of Captain Daniel Morgan and his famous "Morgan's Rifleman".

I thank each of you who made the choice to come out, even with the weather, and join us for a beautiful weekend of rifle marksmanship and some brief American history.  As I mentioned to each of you, the process of becoming a Rifleman is a journey, and it takes persistence and constant practice to become a Rifleman.  Take the time to dry practice, get more comfortable into getting those steady hold factors down pat, and practice your NPOA and the 6 steps of firing a shot.  You can dry practice in the comfort of your residence for zero cost, but the value of those dry practice sessions will become evident once you get to a range and practice with some live firing.  A rifleman persists.

I hope to see each of you again at a later event, please check our calendar at https://appleseedinfo.org/schedule/?qstate=WA&state=Washington for additional dates.
