Title: Martin GA Feb. 27, 2021
Post by: Morpheus on March 01, 2021, 03:42:25 PM
The first shoot of the year at the Red Hill Range in Martin GA. was a single day event that turned out to be a little less wet and rainy than the weather soothsayers foretold. It was also a little less warm than was predicted but our shooters and instructors pressed on through the chill. The firehose of instruction was turned on Saturday morning and wasn't shut down until after 5:00!
The a.m. Redcoat target and the p.m. redcoat target showed a dramatic improvement for the shooters for one day of instruction. Young Rose had never fired a rifle before this day but when it came time for the AQT she certainly showed everyone what she was about. On Stage 1 standing she scored a 42, and on Stage 2 seated she scored a 43!! Those scores are that of a Rifleman (Rifleteen) for sure! Were it not for a magazine issue on Stage 3 and a miscommunication on Stage 4, I am certain that she would have earned her Rifleman Patch! Next time, Rose!
Congratulations to Justin for shooting a 219 to re-qualify as a Rifleman. Huzzah!

I am thankful for the efforts of 6bones and Upacreek for their help on this day. 6bones completed his SBiT 1 and Upacreek completed her first AS as an IIT! Huzzah!

Thank you to the shooters for signing up and we do hope to see you all again very soon! The Red Hill Range schedule is very busy this year with more Appleseed events!

What a great group to start out with as an IIT.  There were 3 kids and 3 adults.  The adults were all fantastic shooters and had been to Appleseeds before.  I'm in awe when they kid each other about making two holes in the seated position and mean it.  The kids were incredible.  The boys were repeats and jumped right back into the sling and cadence when shooting.  Eli was so quick.  Jay was so steady.  Rose was awesome.  It showed from the start when her first group was only a couple inches.  They all only got better as the day went on.
