Title: Blue Ridge, GA Libertyseed, September 23,2020
Post by: CokeGuy on September 24, 2020, 09:11:15 AM
Thanks to Ramblin' Wreck, Roswell and Morpheus for taking a full day to present a Libertyseed to staff and 25 high school students at the Fannin Christian Learning Center in Blue Ridge. It was a long, but rewarding, day as we presented to 4 separate classes during the school day, starting at 8:05 am and ending at 3:10 pm. The order was: Explanation of Project Appleseed and the Three Strikes by CokeGuy; First Strike (20min) by Ramblin'Wreck; Second Strike (15 min) by Roswell (in period costume); Third Strike (15 min) by CokeGuy; and "grand finale" with Patrick Henry's speech (20 min) by Morpheus. This probably should be counted as 4 Libertyseeds, since it was an endurance event. But the students, freshmen through seniors from Fannin County High School, were attentive and interested in historical information they had not been exposed to before. It was a test for all of us to manage our time in order to start and finish each class on time. Thanks to the FCLC for providing all of us with a wonderful lunch and being such gracious hosts. Perhaps we should make this an annual event? The event also gave Wreck a chance to enjoy his new BMW cycle while cruising along River Road and around the curves and up and down the mountains of north Georgia.

The Fannin Christian Learning Center is walking distance from the public high school. Students may elect to take Bible courses at the FCLC and receive social studies high school credit. The FCLC controls its own curriculum since it receives no government funding and has been in operation for 20 years, during which more than 2,500 students have taken classes there. This "released time" program is permitted by the Zorach v. Clauson Supreme Court ruling in 1952.

Well it looks like some of the best storytellers in Appleseed came out in force to promote liberty. Huzzah! for what I'm sure was a unique event for those high schoolers and staff who were able to attend.
