Beaver Valley Rifle & Pistol Club hosted the first Appleseed Pistol Clinic in Pennsylvania this past weekend. Student reaction to the curriculum was generally positive, the weather was fine (if a bit chilly in the AM), and the range facilities were excellent.
Oddly enough only two of the nine students were local. Thanks to all who drove from various parts of Ohio, and even from Michigan, to attend. This indicates strong demand for the Pistol Clinic, so hopefully we will see more on the schedule soon. Also, thanks to Chainsaw for driving across the state to provide coverage on the firing line and excellent instruction.
All of the students made progress on their pistol marksmanship skills. Some discovered bad habits or equipment issues that hampered their progress on the PQT, which is a grueling test of the marksman and their equipment. Sadly, none of the students were successful in their quest for the Pistoleerâ„¢ patch, though several were very close.
Great weekend.
Yes, there does seem to be a 190s plateau with pistols too. Just not enough time to bust them through it.
Looks like a great event. One of my Ohio shooters, Karen, joined you I think. How did she do?
Corvette
She did well, as did all of the other OH folks.
She had some rear sight that wouldn't stay put problems, but persevered and showed great restraint.
Well, Appleseeds both rifle and pistol, will wring out your equipment. Thanks for the report. Corvette
Appleseeds generally are a fantastic test of man and rifle, and the pistol clinics are especially challenging. This coming from one who has done three pistol events, and has yet to qualify.
These pistol clinics are the best way to prep Instructors for the TTT, though.
