Title: Martin GA AAR Sept. 12-13 2020
Post by: Morpheus on September 15, 2020, 08:38:26 PM
The Red Hill Range in Martin GA was host to another stellar Appleseed event, attended by some of the finest Americans this shoot boss has had the pleasure to associate with!

The Saturday forecast was 50-60% chance of rain, and it did rain about 60% of the time! But these folks persisted and a little rain wasn't going to let their spirits be dampened to the learning of marksmanship and the history of April 19, 1775. We had 16 shooters on the line Saturday morning and that first Redcoat target showed us all that we had better get to instructing! ~~:)
We were able to cover the three pillars of marksmanship before lunch: Steady hold factors/sling use, The Six Steps of Firing the Shot, and Natural Point of Aim. Everyone showed such a great teachable attitude and we saw those groups shrink at the target line. At lunch we heard the First Strike of the Match and then went back to the firing line to continue down the pathway to minting Riflemen! During our afternoon break we heard a great rendition of the Second Strike of the Match before starting our first AQT. No new riflemen were revealed at this time but it seemed to put our teaching points in to perspective for the shooters. The evening Redcoat showed some great improvement for the day! O0

Sunday morning started overcast but no real rain in the forecast. 12 shooters returned to show what was gleaned from the previous day's firehose of instruction. The morning Redcoat proved that some things stuck overnight and so we began our review from Saturday. We heard the Third Strike of the Match at lunch along with a couple of other vignettes about some ordinary individuals who did extraordinary things when the need was called on them. The afternoon was spent on AQTs for those who chose to pursue the patch, while others spent that time practicing the items that they needed practice on. Congratulations to Jen C., who was a returning rifleman, and proved that once the score is made it does kind of get easier. She scored a 215, 216, and a 212!  Huzzah!!

It was inspiring to have six youth shooters on the line with us this weekend. They are our future and my thanks to the parents for seeing this as an important way to spend a weekend. Huzzah!!
My thanks also to the instructors who made this weekend doable with their excellence on the line: Jambo, Guitarzan, and Swartztech. Thank you!!

I do hope to see you all again at a future event. Sign up now for Martin GA Nov. 21-22, 2020!!

A great bunch of Appleseeders with wonderful attitudes on a rainy day.  A learning attitude, and a lot of dry firing, goes a long way to achieving a Rifleman's patch.
