Title: Shooting steel at the Vets Shooting Center 20 December 2019
Post by: Quinncannon on December 20, 2019, 06:53:00 PM
ArcEagle14 and I met at the Vets Shooting Center for some KD steel shooting today! Weather was overcast, with high of 45 degrees, with barely a wind at all. Rifles used were one AR308, AR15 and a Ruger bolt action in 6.5 Creedmoor. One Tactical Solutions .22 rimfire was sighted in and shot on some red coat targets and one AQT.

We rang the steel with alacrity, it sounded like "Jingle Bells", come ups were spot on! I slinged up with one of my Rock River AR15 rifles, with the new Burris AR 5.56 scope. The scope is excellent for Appleseed KD shooting. The turrets are calibrated for 5.56, once zero'd at 100, just turn up to 200, 300, 400, etcetera, you'll be spot on, I highly recommend it!

My new Fulton Armory AR308 is a real hammer on steel, slapping that steel with 149 FMJ's is a lot of fun!

ArcEagle14, was checking some loads from 300 to 600 yards with his Creedmoor, the rifle and ammo did not disappoint!

Once the centerfires were stowed away, ArcEagle14, pulled out his Tactical Solutions .22 rimfire and zero'd on a shingle on a Red Coat target, then went on to clean another Red Coat. Shortly after, he shot an AQT and scored a 246! Properly scored and timed, of course!

We are looking forward to the Appleseed in Bald Knob, 18-19 January 2020. Be there, or be square!

As usual, we invite all of those who may happen to be in our AO, to come out and shoot with a couple of old hand Appleseeders. We'll shoot reduced AQT's or KD, even provide rifles and ammo, if needed!

Merry Christmas!

Quinncannon, out.

Now you guys are waxing poetic about shooting? What's next, guiding the bullets onto the 10 ring using the Force? It sounds like a good time on the range in Arkansas.

Keep sending that lead downrange.

We take rifle marksmanship seriously, but we have fun as well! Seriously, you should have heard the steel ringing, we just kept hammering round after round, before the target even stopped swinging!
